Föhr island has everything; long white sandy beach, sun shine, countless cafe, bar and resto on the beach, idyllic villages and nice shopping passage. It has also protected nature. This sunny and warm island is a perfect destination for all; backpacker, flashpacker, families alike, group of friends and romantic couple.

If you see on the map, the coast line of North Sea in North Germany is dotted by so many small islands. The biggest dot of this tiny islands is Föhr. This island is one hour from mainland by ferry. I will take you to visit föhr island in one day, let's go ....

Summer and sun shine in North Germany, we take a ferry from Dagebüll port to Föhr island. This ferry take route on sidelines of many sandbanks. It is Wadden Sea with its famous sandbanks and seal habitat. Although it take one hour, we don't get boring because the ferry is big and nice, we also see some seals family lying on sandbanks for sunbathing, they looks very cute and innocent....

Moving route of ferry, here we can buy marmelade or some foods and drinks in restaurant.

Arrived at port of Wyk auf Föhr, there we can visit Nationalpark-Haus to learn about nature of this island in the corner. We also can take a bus tour round the island or if you already booked a room, you can wait lines bus here to take you to the address. Föhr Island has very good transportation system though it is a rural area.

It's All About Beach Life

Anyway we prefer to go directly to the beach.... Föhr Island has 15 Kilometers long white sandy beach and we go to the most famous beach near port (Hafenstrand). The beaches here are divided into some sections, there are beaches for family and general, beach for dogs and there is also nude beach in the near of airport (sector 29).

When we get to the beach, we find fresh clean air, warm sunshine, blue sky, clear crystal water and happy faces... Children swimming in the water, teenies playing beach volleyball, family happy together and people sun bathing and enjoy the day... It such a perfect holiday place...

Föhr Island has nice shopping passage, this is a car-free road parallel to the beach. People can shop for international brand fashion, jewelry, watches. Of course there are sellers of postcards, ice cream, cafes, and there are also post offices and some banks (although they do not have staff, only atm).
