Schlagermove, The Biggest Folks Music Festival in Hamburg

Cheerful, colorful and peaceful in every edge and corner of Hamburg. Everyone took to the streets in brightly and funny costumes. The city was beaten by the cheerful and simple-pitched German folk music. Everybody dancing and singing on the street... It is the famous Schlagermove Festival in Hamburg.

On Saturday we were taking a part on this festival, it is a party of superlatives in the North Germany. Festival of love...

From our house near Danish border, we have to go by train for about 2 hours to Hamburg. It is not surprising that the train is full but luckily we get our seat in the corner near toilet.

We had agreed with a couple from Berlin, who had arrived in Hamburg the day before, that we would meet somewhere for lunch before going to the carnival thereafter.

And that's how it should be. We had lunch together while chatting casually. We are close friends and have not met for a long time. And today we will spend time together in this festival.

It was the first time we went to Schlagermove festival. We do not know what or how this festival will happen. The awkward moment was, we wore casual t shirts while others dressed up in colorful funny clothes.... Okay, doesn't matter... there's always an exception for the first time and we went to festival just like that.

I was very impressed with this festival. In the whole city there were happy faces, people laughing, dancing and singing together... how beautiful the world is, peaceful and love everywhere...

Schlager fans (and curious people like me) from all over Germany and neighboring countries come together with flowers in their hair, funny shoes or shirts and mini dresses to have a good time and enjoy afternoon together.

The festival begins in the afternoon, colorfully decorated music trucks set in motion and turns until evening of their round. The route is between Heiligengeistfeld and St. Pauli-Landungsbrücken. It is on the Harbor area.

In the evening, the fun goes on as aftermove party at a party area on Heiligengeistfeld. Many German's pop stars and popular DJs heat up the party people again but we didn't go to this after-party because we have to catch up our last train to go home.
