One day in Da Nang for digital nomads: Lady Buddha, Trinh Caphe and walk on the river

I’ve been living as a digital nomad since 2017. From the moment I adopted this lifestyle until now I've never had proper vacation. And, do I miss that? To be honest no! Before I become a content marketing freelancer, I was a lawyer and had what most people call as “a normal life”. Working eleven months of the year to have just one month of vacation, for me always sounded insane and I never found work and life balance on this routine. To be honest, I’ve never had the whole month of vacation, since all the law firms that I’ve worked too never allowed me to be so much time far of the company…

Today, working as a freelancer and living a digital nomad lifestyle, all that I’ve learned is that everything is about balance. The problem is that most of people work to much, rest too little and they believe that suspending everything for one month (vacation) will give them happiness. I believe that happiness comes from enjoy a bit, work a bit and rest properly… Thinking about that I’ll share here on travel feed what I call #oneday fordigitalnomads, a project where I want to show that in one day you can do a lot of stuff and also get the things done!

To start this project, I’ll start exactly from where I am now: Da Nang, Vietnam! So, let’s get started!

Start your day with calm on Lady Buddha

From My An Beach is easy to see a big white statue on the mountains. In the beginning it's not easy to recognize what it is. For me, it looks like Mother Mary, but wait… We are on Vietnam which is not a christian country at all… The lady Buddha is one of the highest statues on the country with 67 meter tall. It was made during sometime when Da Nang was facing a lot of storms, so they build the statue on marble to protect the city and the fisherman.

You can get a Grab to go there, and it will cost you around 200,000 Vietnamese dong. To come back is not easy to have a grab, so my tip for you is to choose a not sunny day and come back walking to the city.

Inside the place there are some temples and gardens. I really enjoyed the bonsais! They are amazing! They also have a great view from Da Nang. So it's good to start your day or watch the sunset from there.

The place is super calm and nice! If you go during the week, probably you’ll not face so many tourists around. It’s a great place to enjoy silence, peace and a zen vibe! Start your day there is a great thing to do!

Have a My Quang anywhere 

After enjoy your morning on Lady Buddha spot, I highly recommend you to sit in any local restaurant, with tiny chairs and enjoy some My Quang. This is one of the most popular noodles of this part of Vietnam and it’s delicious. If you see some kind of house/restaurant with an lady serving it, yes, go and get it! You won't regret I promise! The more local you try, the more taste it is!

Get the work done with some avocado coffee

Trinh Ca Phe is one of my favourite spots in Da Nang for having an avocado coffee and also get some work done. This charming cozy cafe has a lot of antiques inside and brings you to and old Vietnam from the war times. I really enjoy the coffee and the atmosphere there and they have nice tables with power outlets where you can plug your laptop.

They don’t have any kind of food on traditional coffees in Vietnam. However, on this area, besides you’ll find a lot of restaurants you can try great local dishes around.

Take a walk on the river by night

After finish work, take a grab and cross one of the bridges over the river. My favourite bridge so far is the dragon bridge which is very beautiful by night. Stop along the river and enjoy a great night walk. It’s very beautiful and you can see the lights of the buildings and also the bridges.

During the night, they also have some kind of turistic night cruisers, where you can enjoy the view also by boat. It’s a great walk and very pleasant to spend sometime there!

End your day with a delicious vegetarian dinner!

Well, to close your day in the best way, I highly recommend you to have dinner at ROM vegetarian restaurant! For sure it’s one of the best vegetarian restaurants I’ve ever been in my life (I’m not joking!) and the menu is full of great options with local dishes and also with mushrooms (which I truly love!). There’s no better way to end your day!
