Garda, a beautiful town on Lake Garda

Garda, a beautiful town on Lake Garda

February 2022 · 2 min read · Italy

One of the towns that I love most of all on Lake Garda is the town of Garda which is located about 40 kilometers from the provincial capital Verona.

The history of this locality It begins even before the Roman Empire. In fact, the name Garda derives from the guard probably referring to the castle that rose above this locality.

There is no trace of the Castle left, but you can walk up to the mountain where Garda recently stood, it has become a privileged destination for holiday tourism, especially for the German one, its weekly market is very popular but also the numerous shops that are in the small streets of the country.

It is also an important port for those who have boats but also for those who want to use the numerous ferries to move around the lake.

I remember that the lake is suitable for swimming and it is possible to do any water sport such as windsurfing because a good wind usually blows in these parts.

I usually come often on Sunday or Saturday to take long walks I really like breathing the lake air and then it reminds me a little of the sea but it is more easily accessible for me.

Here in Garda we find numerous beaches but not the classic sand of the sea but with the gravel that is part of the lake bed. So you have to equip yourself with sandals to avoid getting hurt.
