January 2023 · 4 min read · Gdansk

Dear friends, today I would like to tell you about a place I visited about a year ago, Gdansk. It is a beautiful port city located on the Balkan coast of Poland. Unfortunately, during the Second World War, Gdansk was heavily damaged and was practically completely rebuilt. Despite this, Gdansk is a wonderful place, rich in history and natural beauty. I hope you too can visit it one day.

Yes, I often find cheap flights and take the opportunity to visit unknown places. It is exciting to discover new cities and cultures and see what they have to offer, but above all to get to know their history. In the specific case of Gdansk, I seem to have discovered the Centre of European Solidarity, a kind of museum-library located there and dedicated to the history of Solidarity, the famous Polish trade union that represented civil resistance. This is a great discovery, because Gdansk was an important centre of the struggle for independence and freedom in Poland, as I mentioned earlier, and this centre will definitely give you a unique perspective on the history and importance of this city.

Below I leave you with some specific information:

Visiting a place like the European Solidarity Centre in Gdańsk is extremely important to understand the atrocities of dictatorships and why not so many years have passed since those tragic events. In addition, I really like the way the museum has been created with a somewhat unusual shape, which makes the visit even more meaningful and engaging. The history of Solidarity and its role in the struggle for independence and freedom in Poland are essential to understanding the history of the country and the world. I highly recommend a visit to this place, both to understand the past and to appreciate the present.

During my visit to Gdansk, I stayed in some very nice flats. I still remember booking the accommodation through a super offer I found on Booking, a portal I often use to book my stays when I travel. I can only recommend this place, although I must say that some of my friends who stayed in the same flats were not satisfied and cancelled at the last minute.

I have to say that I was very impressed by Gdansk, because initially I thought of it as an industrial city, mainly because of its shipyard activities. Instead, I was very impressed by its beautiful buildings and palaces, especially because we have to remember that being a port city, it has always been at the centre of international trade. It is just a pity that it was unfortunately destroyed during the Second World War. The city was rebuilt with care and attention, bringing back the original beauty of Gdansk, making it a tourist destination rich in history and culture.

Turistically speaking, Gdansk seems to be an under-visited destination in Italy, despite its beauty and charm. Strolling along its streets with a very beautiful historical centre is really interesting and enthralling. I am sure that Gdansk will slowly become more and more visited by Italian tourists, who will discover its beauty and unique history. With its carefully reconstructed buildings and palaces, Gdansk offers a unique perspective on the history and importance of this city. I highly recommend anyone to visit Gdańsk and discover its hidden beauties.

I must say that Gdansk is a very interesting place to visit, although it is probably not the ideal time in winter because of the intense cold. However, the Old Town is very nice and pretty, with tall, narrow buildings in very strange shapes. The colourful little houses are a unique attraction and make the city even more charming. In general, I recommend visiting Gdansk during the warm season in order to better appreciate its beauty and to take walks along its streets.

I hope that I enjoyed my story and I hope that it entices you to visit this beautiful Polish city which I think is so worth visiting and in fact I plan to go back there as soon as I can in the summer.
