As a result of the wars of conquest, the state of Hupacce became part of a new large Goryo state. The city of Gyeongju gradually, losing the strength and status of the city, turned into a typical province. And in 940, King Daejo (태조) assigned the “city” its modern name - Gyeongju, the same year it became the administrative center of the city of Yonnam (영남). And then the city again began to acquire its former strength and significance. And by 987, he became "Eastern Capital" , but alas, not for long. The main reason was the disbandment of a special body that dealt with the military affairs of the state in the east and center of the country. This was the result of a popular uprising for the reconstruction of Silla.

In 1392 it was time for the Joseon dynasty. This time was not the most favorable for the city of Gyeongju. In connection with the opening of the Great Yonnam Road , which connected Seoul with the port of Tonne (동래), thanks to which Gyeongju was sidelined. And in 1601, the capital of the Gyeongsando province is changing, it becomes the city of Daegu, which today is the 4th largest city in South Korea.

КIn the mid-twentieth century, railways were built, one of which linked Gyeongju with Seoul (at that time the city was called Kyonson). Together with the construction of the railway, the industrial flowering of the city began. Factories were opened in the nearby provinces, which also gave impetus to the development of the city of Gyeongju.
