Spring has come to South Korea. Around everything turns green and blooms, more and more people go for walks. Every spring, many different festivals are held in South Korea. Festivals of tulips and roses, lanterns and green tea.

This year many beautiful festivals were cancelled due to coronavirus, so let me share with you the festivals from previous years...

Flower festival

I’ll tell you about the flower festival organized by the administration of Goyang City.

Goyang city is 25 km from Seoul, you can get to it by subway or city bus.

The first flower festival was held in Korea in 1997. The scope of the event exceeded all expectations. In a couple of days, more than 6 million people visited Goyang city. Since then, a flower exhibition has been held here annually — in the park by Lake Ilsan.

Representatives from more than 30 countries of the world take part in the flower festival.

Usually, the exhibition is held for two weeks. On working days it is open from 10 to 19 hours, and on weekends from 9 to 21 hours. Entrance ticket is 12,000 Korean won or 12 dollars. But there are various discounts, for example, discounts for foreign visitors. For foreigners, the ticket price is 8,000 Korean won ($ 8).

Every year the festival is becoming more grandiose and larger. All this beauty is difficult to describe, you need to see it with your own eyes.

The exhibition is divided into 2 parts: indoor and outdoor.

An indoor exhibition takes place in a large indoor room in the park territory. In 2018, the indoor exhibition was divided into 4 sections: National Pavilion (pavilions represented by different countries), Floral Monuments 2018, Exotic Flowers Exhibition and International Garden Plants Hall.

The Outdoor Flower Exhibition was presented in the following sections: World Flower Festival, Color Flower Land, Flower Valley and Smart City, Tulip Garden, Photo Zone of Fun and Love. In addition to the exhibition, the festival organizers came up with an entertainment program. Every day the program is different. Visitors to the exhibition can watch the performance of Korean pop stars, the so-called K-POP, traditional dances, magic shows, a flower parade and much more. And the most active visitors can take part in various events: painting flowers, creating different floral art and so on.

The flower festival is so large that you can spend a whole day here.
