Ticino's Mediterranean flair - Lugano, Switzerland

It's been more than a month since we moved to Lugano, Switzerland. Back in March, corona situation started and we couldn't even have a chance to walk through the city center. Ivan started his PhD working from home from the very first day.

The pace of our days became slow and mellow. I couldn't be more amazed by our balcony view and beautiful sunsets. Sometimes, clouds cover the sky and we can see only dim traces of light.

It is a southern Switzerland town, in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino bordering Italy. We are surrounded my mountains, the magnificent Alps.

Many people from Northern Switzerland have their holiday homes here. The Mediterranean vibe is definitely here, except no one is allowed to walk around the city or the lake (the fine is 10 000 CHF) and the only going out is in the store.

We live in Aldesago area which is 600 meters above the sea level and here we have access to beautiful hiking trails.

Hiking is something we will continue doing on a weekly basis. But for now, other outside activities are pretty restricted. I wish I could show you more of this beautiful town right now! However, the only thing I can show you is how the most of my days in Lugano are spent.

Reading books, learning Italian, cooking and chilling on the balcony are my top activities these days. I cannot wait to explore all the streets, cafes, lake and more surrounding mountains in Ticino region.

I hope all of you are safe out there. Take care and enjoy your day!
