A Long Walk in Athens, Greece, and its street art.

Hello Friends,

Most people think of long walks as a way to explore nature, but they can also be a great way to explore cities. By walking around a city, you can see things you wouldn't see if you were just driving or riding the bus. You can also stop and explore areas that interest you. And, if you're feeling adventurous, you can even walk through neighborhoods that you wouldn't normally visit.

Taking a long walk is the best way to see a city. Strolling through the streets, winding through neighborhoods, and exploring all the sights and sounds is the perfect way to learn about a new place. Plus, it’s a great way to work off any city-induced stress. So put on your walking shoes, and get to exploring! Or at least that is what I think to myself.

Yesterday, I went on a long walk. From the center of Athens, Greece, to the harbor. This was about a 2-hour walk. My focus on this walk was to see the sunset by the harbor and capture some nice photos of the various street art that lines almost, all the streets here in Athens.

The majority of this post will be focused on the street art I saw on this walk. Please enjoy. :)

One thing I think about when I see street art, is if its vandalism or street art...

There is no clear-cut answer when it comes to distinguishing between street art and vandalism, as the two often overlap. However, one key distinction is that vandalism is typically considered to be a destructive act, whereas street art is meant to be creative and constructive. Additionally, street art is typically commissioned or authorized by the city or local government, while vandalism is typically done without permission.

But, Athens has a lot of street art, but amazng and also vandalism.

The answer to this question is not as simple as it seems. While some people may see street art as a form of vandalism, others see it as a form of expression or even art. There is no one answer that fits all, and the debate over this topic is likely to continue for some time.

Perhaps... street art is viewed as more creative and constructive, while vandalism is considered to be more destructive and negative. Additionally, street art is often created with the intention of being seen by the public, while vandalism is typically done in secret or without permission.

What matters is not who makes it, but how well it is made. Once an artist has mastered the art of graffiti, they can apply their skills to any number of other mediums, such as canvas, brick walls, or abandoned buildings. Graffiti is about leaving a mark and street art is about bringing beauty to ugly places. So whatever you call it, just, I guess enjoy it for what it is, right?

Street art can be used to breathe life into a city and can be appreciated by people of all ages and cultures. It can also be used to send a message or make a statement. However, it is important to make sure that street art is done in a way that is respectful to the community and its residents.

Street art can be pretty confusing. Sometimes it's hard to tell what the artist was trying to communicate. But that's what I like about it. It makes me think.

Street art can also be a form of social activism, as it can be used to bring attention to various political or social messages.

Street art never fails to make me think. It's amazing how these artists can take something as commonplace as a wall and turn it into a work of art. Sometimes the pieces are beautiful, while others are more provocative. But they all make me think, and that's what I love about them.

It was almost Sunset at this point, and still a good 20-min walk left... AHHH my legs are killing me here. But press on and on.

Graffiti can make a place feel, less safe. It can be an eyesore, and it can make a place feel uninviting. Such as this tunnel I had to go through to get to the harbor, It was dark, painted, it was neat, yes... but a little questioning.

On the other side, there was this lovely trump pig art. Hahaha, It was great.

But then, the sunset ahead was so close...

And I made it. The walk was a success. I did go a littl further down the path, but I will share that sotry some other time. The focus here was on the art. :)

SO ...

It's important to get lost in a city every once in a while. The best way to do that is to go for a long walk without any real destination in mind. Take your time and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells that you would normally miss if you were speeding through the streets on your way to someplace else. When you're done, you'll have a much better idea of what the city is really like.

Also, taking a long walk through the city can be a great way to learn about it. You can see the sights, learn about the history, and get a feel for the culture. Plus, it's a great way to get some exercise, AND - prehaps see some cool street art along the way.
