About Swasti Yoga Center

I had some doubts at first, but they won me over in a short time!

If you're looking for a yoga studio with a strong spiritual foundation, Swasti Yoga Center is worth checking out. The studio is based on the Hindu and yogic philosophy that the body is a temple and that through the practice of yoga, we can connect with our true selves and the divine. Swasti offers a variety of classes, from Hatha and Vinyasa to yin and meditation, and each is designed to help students deepen their practice and find their own path to self-realization.

The teachers at Swasti are all highly experienced and passionate about their work, and they make a point of creating a warm and supportive community. The studio itself is small and intimate, with a peaceful and calming vibe There are plenty of other places to practice yoga around India, but I particularly like the setting of Swasti. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable, and they have a wide variety of classes, from beginners to very advanced practitioners.

What to Expect

Swasti Yoga center is a great place to begin your yoga journey, or advance the studies you already have. Located about 2 hours from Mumbai, the studio is located in an apartment block just outside Pune, India.

The instructors are experienced and patient (* I know from first - hand experiences with my attempts to learn Sand Scrip with them Haha). They are always willing to provide modifications to help you find the best way to practice yoga and advance on whatever path you are on.

The studio is clean and welcoming. The class sizes are small, so you get plenty of personal attention. Further, the community at Swasti is supportive and friendly.

The Yoga Classes

I have been practicing yoga for a while, and I have to say that the classes at Swasti Yoga Center are different from what you may think Yoga is, It is more traditional Yoga. The instructors are all highly experienced and knowledgeable, and they always take the time to ensure that each student is practicing correctly and safely. You won't find neon pink yoga pants and fancy brands, you will find authentic people with good hearts doing what they love.

In addition, the atmosphere is always calm and relaxing, even if outside the streets are busy with cars, buses and rickshaws rattling by, inside it is an oasis.

The Yoga Protocol Instructor (YPI) Course is the perfect way to learn about the roots of yoga. The course is certified by the India government, and it's the most authentic way to learn about this ancient practice. The instructors are highly qualified at teaching this and most are also doctors. I have seen that they have a deep understanding of the philosophy behind yoga. The course is very comprehensive, and it covers everything from the history of yoga to the modern-day applications of the practice.

The classes also bring Ayurveda into the study. Ayurveda Yoga is an ancient practice that integrates yoga and ayurveda, two sister sciences that have been used for centuries to maintain health and well-being. Ayurveda is a holistic system of medicine that recognizes the body, mind, and spirit as one, and yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice that connects the body and mind. When these two practices are combined, they create a powerful tool for maintaining health and well-being.

The Staff

Swasti Yoga Center is a welcoming and inclusive community committed to the exploration and practice of yoga.

The center has several experienced and certified instructors, who are passionate about guiding students to discover their own potential and true selves through the practice of yoga.

The staff at Swasti Yoga Center is incredibly welcoming, supportive, and knowledgeable. They provide individualized attention and guidance to each student, creating a safe and nurturing environment for exploration and growth. These are the actions that I have seen first hand here.

Dr. Vikas Chothe and his wife, Dr. Shwetambari Chothe, welcomed me (*A crazy mustached guy with a backpack on) into the studio and their lives. Along with them, the full staff is truly dedicated to helping students find their own authentic yoga practice and grow into their best selves.

Manisha Garg, the morning yoga teacher, and I shared a few stories and many laughs together doing various poses.

The Facilities

Swasti Yoga Center is a great place to practice yoga. The yoga studio is intimate and clean, and comfortable. Although the studio is on the small side, it does not feel that small when you are inside bending and breathing and chanting. It has a tasteful Indian accent that gives your yoga experience a unique feel.

I stayed at the studio for a week, in the back room, and it was a great experience. I was able to focus on my yoga practice and I had a lot of time to relax. It was nice to live and do yoga in the same place. I was able to get up early and practice before the other students arrived. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to focus on their yoga practice.

Conclusion

India is a beautiful nation with a rich culture and history. It is a place full of diverse and exotic places to visit. With so many tourist attractions, it can be easy to forget that this is the place where Yoga started.

The Swasti Yoga Center is a great place to go and learn the roots of yoga, the fundamental ideas, values and ethics of this ancient art. If you want a bunch of Lou Lou lemon dressed 20-something's stretching and talking about fashion trends, this is not for you, if you want an authentic Indian experience, while you study the foundation of yoga while diving into Indian lifestyle, cultural and traditions, then this is the place you need to be.
