When I checked in at my hotel the other day, the attendant behind the desk asked me where I was from. I said, "America, but I live in Vietnam". Then he said something in passing, like a joke, that got me thinking. He said, "Oh, so you are a citizen of the world then"? With a smile, I said, "lol, I guess so", and moved on.

It took some time to process what he said, what that meant... Later that night, when walking along the port in Thessaloniki, Greece, I got to thinking... What Does it Mean to Be a Citizen of the World?

There is a lot of confusion about what it means to be a citizen of the world. In today's globalized society, we are constantly bombarded with messages and images of different cultures and lifestyles. We are told that there is no such thing as belonging to just one country or culture anymore. We might feel torn between cultures, identities, and loyalties. SO, What does it mean to be a citizen of the world?
