A little Slice of Life...

Life on the Road 1.png

Some Sundays are so random, with nothing specific planned, but at the end of it all, they end up being really fantastic! Yesterday was one of those Sundays! I was up pretty early (especially for a Sunday) but I suppose a good nights sleep will do that for a person haha... although, admittedly - after being awake for a couple of hours and vegging on the couch watching the old series "full house" I did fall asleep for a wee moment lol! But hey... what are holidays for, right?! Speaking of which, we have about 10 days of holiday left and then you will all start seeing a lot more of me again... sorry for you!!! haha ;)

Anyhooo... early afternoon we were informed that we would be having load shedding from 6pm to 8.30pm (this is when they cut our power for those that don;t know) so we decided to head out for a lunch at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront.

I was also in the mood for some live music and we know there is always plenty of that there.... so off we went! The weather was a little ominous en-route, but nothing that was going to stop us from going...

There is a spot at the waterfront called Ferrymans Tavern which pretty much always guarantees a great plate of food at a decent price, good service, a super atmosphere and live music... so that was where we headed. The band had pretty much just started as we had arrived. I didn't get there name but they were fantastic! It was a real old bunch of classic rock enthusiastics mixed with some rock blues!

We grabbed a table outside and a little bit away from the band so that Jude's ear drums didn't burst haha! Ordered some wine and enjoyed the tunes and the atmosphere in general! There are always some wonderfully interesting characters floating about there and yesterday was no disappointment - especially to people watchers like me! haha! In fact... one of the ladies that was there with all her lady friends actually started pole dancing on one of the umbrellas lol.

About 30 minutes after we arrived, that "ominous" looking sky suddenly opened it's heavens and there was immediate chaos as everyone ran for shelter from the downpour. Thankfully it only lasted a few minutes - a typical Cape Town mood swing lol!

The tums were growling so we decided to order! I normally grab their steak when we go there because they are ALWAYS good, but yesterday I decided to opt for some deep fried hake and mash... yeah I am one of those people that would rather have mash than chips with my fish hehe! They used to offer the most amazing jalapeno sauce which they made in-house at the restaurant but I think they have recently changed hands so sadly that was no longer available, but it really didn't matter as the meal was delicious anyway! Once done stuffing our faces, we stayed a little longer to enjoy the band and finish up our drinks.

We grabbed a bag of wood on the way home as we knew we would be without power until just after sunset, and as we had a nice full lunch, we decided to just do some cheese and tomato toasties on the fire for dinner and invited Jude's buddy to join us! It went down SO well and was the perfect ending to a rather random but awesome Sunday!

Tomorrow we are heading up the cable car to Table Mountain, then heading to the Two Oceans Aquarium, then to Kirstenbosch Gardens for lunch and if we are still alive after all that... we will be making our way to my brothers house for an evening braai!..... yeeeah.... wish me luck, I am going to need it! haha!!! Definitely won't be posting tomorrow, so will catch you all again on Hump Day and I will share all! I am saving the dinner I made the other night for another @foodfightfriday post hehe ... OH, and whilst on that topic, I must apologise for not saying thank you for winning one of the last rounds last year... I was SUPER STOKED and REALLY meant to get to thanking you guys, but as many of you know, the end of 2019 completely emotionally rail-roaded me with the news of my brother in London, so pretty much everything else took a back seat.... but he is doing SO much better and I just want to say THANK YOU for that win and for the prize! I will try not to disappoint next round ;) Have a Terrific Tuesday everyone! Love you all! Catch you on the flipside! MWAH!

❤❤❤

Until next time...
Much Love from Cape Town, South Africa xxx
