Gate One is an upscale restaurant and drink bar in the terminal of Poland's Warsaw Chopin Airport. I had a delayed flight during a layover on my way to Kraków, so I decided to stop in for a bite to eat (and a drink). Thankfully, my airlines gave me a voucher to spend due to the delays.
This was my first restaurant experience in Poland. I wasn't expecting anything too special, due to the fact that I was eating in an airport terminal.
I decided to order the Panini z kurczakiem, serem camembert i żurawina, with a rum & coke to go alongside.
It was an interesting way to serve a Rum & Coke (or Pepsi, in this case). The server brought me a glass bottle of Pepsi and a cup of rum with ice in it. It was a 'pour it yourself' kinda thing. I actually liked it, because I can control the strength of the drink... but at the same time, there was not nearly enough rum.
The Panini z kurczakiem, serem camembert i żurawina translates to a Panini with chicken, camembert cheese and cranberry. As you can see in the photo above, it was served on a bed of greens. It was a flavorful sandwich due to the cheese and cranberry, but it was definitely skimping on the chicken. Overall, it was a solid light lunch, paid for by the airlines, so I can't complain.
After the meal, I enjoyed another drink while waiting for my flight. It was a three hour delay, so I had plenty of time to spare. When it was time to go, I got aboard the plane and headed to Kraków.
