Siargao Island; Beautiful beaches, incredible food and so much fun!!

Siargao Island, in the Philippines, is found on the Eastern edge of the archipelago, and, surprisingly, is not as well known as some of it's neighbouring islands!

With clear turquoise water, white sandy beaches, and so much lush green jungle area, I can't believe that there aren't more visitors here!!

While some beaches here are famous for surfing, such as the incredible Cloud 9, there are still many spots for swimming, snorkelling, or just relaxing on the sand! Doing an "island hopping" boat tour will show off even more of the area's gorgeous coastlines, complete with white sand and palm trees 🌴 and your guide can point out the best spots for snorkelling!

Then, take a habal habal out to the Magpupungko tidal pools, and jump into the turquoise swimming holes from the rocks above! Here, it seems that you can literally walk on water!!

Or check out Sugba lagoon, accessed by a beautiful boat ride through the mangroves, where you can try your hand at some stand up paddle boarding or kayaking!

My dad was brave enough to jump on as I "drove" 😝😝

Just relax, cruise through the calm water and enjoy the stunning views 💜

Most visitors stay in the town area of General Luna, where there are several options for guest houses, and lots of great restaurants nearby to try out cheap local foods, or even grab a pizza! And unlike a lot of the Philippines, the vego options here are fantastic!! 💜

I highly recommend staying at the Kermit Surf Resort; it's a beautiful, well located place with friendly staff, a cute chill out area and fantastic food!

But if you have time, try to venture out further around the island to see the smaller, less touristy towns and villages; the locals are so friendly and will love to chat or snap a selfie with you!

And of course, it wouldn't be the Philippines without spotting some water buffalo!! This man smiled and waved at us and even stopped to pose for a photo!

While famous for surfing, Siargao has so much to offer for non-surfers too, and is relatively unknown and laid back compared to other islands of the Philippines! The beaches are beautiful and surrounded by turquoise water, and so much of the island is covered in lush green jungle! You can get super cheap rooms here, splurge on a resort, or join one of several "surf camps" and become a pro!!
