In the footsteps of a Discostory in Pilsen IV. - Last time / Discopříběh v Plzni IV. - Naposledy

For the last time, we will follow in the footsteps of a film musical in Pilsen together. We will walk around Škoda factory and look at the edge of the city district called Skvrňany.

The best way to get to the main gate of Škoda, located in Tylova Street opposite the central bus station, is by trolleybus No. 12 in the direction of Nová Hospoda. We get off at the CAN stop, Tylova.

The following shot from the film (00:37:00) shows a group of chimney sweep apprentices at an internship in Škoda.
Today we will not find so many chimneys here. And not smokers at all. Those times are gone.

Since the security will not let us in so easily, we will at least take a picture of the main gate with the building of the race headquarters.
Škoda is no longer the giant giant in heavy engineering, famous for its giant forgings and turbines.
Never again V. I. Lenin's factory. It has always been and is only a "Škoda"
Today we find more companies here. I name, for example, Škoda Transportation and its successful locomotives and trolleybuses.
The experience was also a visit to the smelter and smithy with huge presses.
We will look into it in one of the next articles.

It is only a few steps from the main gate of Škoda, to the footage from Skvrňany. Skvrňany, or as we say, Škvrňany, is a modern housing estate built on the site of the original suburb of Pilsen, almost completely destroyed by bombing during World War II.

The PNS (Postal Newspaper Service) stand disappeared sometime twenty years ago as the number of Škoda people walking to work decreased.
The weather in the film completely corresponded to the one in which I took a modern shot for you. In the distance behind the booth is the silhouette of a flooded underpass, into which I recently clattered heavily.

Situation today:

The greenery grew considerably during that time and limited the view. Therefore, I took more photos from above from the arch, so that the photos were not just trees.
The turning radius has also increased.

The rain is intensifying. Maybe we'll have a few more shots.

Prefabricated building with neon advertising. I remember him well. As a kid, I used to love similar neon lights.

Today, advertising is no longer there. But the block of flats still stands. Today there is an advertisement for ceramics on it.

Direction indicator (01:00:29) I remember that too. It disappeared sometime after the mid-1990s in connection with the construction of a new motorway to Rozvadov.

Today we find a new indicator here.

The rain is getting heavier. We jump on tram no. 2 and go to the city center. Here we change to four and after Rondel we get off at the Pod Záhorskem stop. Of course with an umbrella.

The last shot of our series awaits us. Here Jirka passes on the back of a small Avia along Karlovarská třída towards Lochotín.
Behind him we see the Rondel Bridge, the large roundabout and on the right the tower of the Cathedral of St. Bartholomew. (01:00:55)

I will take a picture of today's situation, at least from the sidewalk nearby.

Rondel is almost invisible through passing cars ...
He will soon be a thing of the past. It will be demolished. Its bridges are in poor condition. It will be replaced by a simple intersection and housing construction.

Our series on Rondel is slowly ending.

Naposledy půjdeme společně po stopách filmového muzikálu v Plzni. Projdeme si okolí Škodovky a podíváme se i na kraj městské čtvrti jménem Skvrňany.

K hlavní bráně Škodovky, nacházející se v Tylově ulici naproti centrálnímu autobusovému nádraží se dostaneme nejlépe trolejbusem č. 12 směr Nová Hospoda. Vystoupíme v zastávce CAN, Tylova.

Následující záběr z filmu (00:37:00) ukazuje partu kominických učňů na praxi ve Škodovce.
Dnes už zde tolik komínů nenajdeme. A už vůbec ne kouřících. Ty časy už jsou pryč.

Jelikož dovnitř závodu nás ochranka jen tak snadno nepustí, vyfotíme si alespoň hlavní bránu s budovou ředitelství závodu.
Škodovka už není ten obří gigant v těžkém strojírenství, který se proslavil především obřími výkovky a turbínami.
Už nikdy žádné závody V. I. Lenina. Vždy to byla a je jen "Škodovka"
Dnes zde najdeme více společností. Jmenuji například Škodu Transportation a její úspěšné lokomotivy a trolejbusy.
Zážitkem byla i návštěva hutí a kovárny s obrovskými lisy.
Podíváme se do ní v některém z příštích článků.
A teď už to slíbené novodobé foto:

Od hlavní brány Škodovky je to jen pár kroků k záběrům ze Skvrňan. Skvrňany, nebo jak se u nás říká, Škvrňany, je novodobé sídliště vystavěné na místě původního předměstí Plzně, skoro celého zničeného bombardováním za druhé světové války.
Filmový záběr ze zatáčky Vejprnické ulice (01:00:33):

Stánek PNS (Poštovní novinová služba) zmizel někdy před dvaceti lety, jak ubývalo Škodováků chodících tudy do práce.
Počasí ve filmu zcela odpovídalo tomu, ve kterém jsem pro vás vyfotil novodobý záběr. V dálce za stánkem je silueta zatopeného podchodu, do kterého jsem nedávno mohutně čvachtnul.

Situace dnes:

Zeleň za tu dobu značně vyrostla a omezila výhled. Fotil jsem proto více shora z oblouku, aby na fotce nebyly jen stromy.
Též se zvětšil poloměr zatáčky.

Déšť zesiluje. Snad ještě stihneme pár záběrů.

Panelák s neonovou reklamou. Ten si dobře pamatuji. Jako kluk jsem miloval podobné neony.

Dnes už tu reklama není. Ale panelák stojí pořád. Dnes je na něm reklama na keramiku.

Směrový ukazatel (01:00:29) Ten také pamatuji. Zmizel někdy po polovině devadesátých let v souvislosti s výstavbou nové dálnice na Rozvadov.

Dnes zde najdeme ukazatel nový.

Déšť sílí. Skočíme do tramvaje č.2 a pojedeme do centra města. Zde přestoupíme do čtyřky a za Rondelem vystoupíme v zastávce Pod Záhorskem. Samozřejmě s deštníkem.

Čeká nás poslední záběr našeho seriálu. Jirka zde projíždí na korbě malé Avie po Karlovarské třídě směrem na Lochotín.
Za jeho zády vidíme most Rondelu, velkého kruhového objezdu a vpravo věž katedrály sv. Bartoloměje. (01:00:55)

Vyfotím vám dnešní situaci alespoň z chodníku nedaleko.

Přes projíždějící auta není Rondel skoro vidět...
Brzy už bude i on minulostí. Bude zbourán. Jeho mosty jsou ve špatném stavu. Nahradí ho jednoduchá křižovatka a bytová výstavba.

Náš seriál na Rondelu pomalu končí.
