Dormy Inn Korakuen - The latest addition to our favourite hotel chain in Tokyo

January 2019 · 3 min read

The Dormy Inn hotel chain is always our favourite choice for accommodation in Japan, as detailed over in this post here. In our latest Tokyo trip, we were thrilled to find the brand new branch of Dormy Inn Korakuen right beside the Tokyo Dome City.

Dormy Inn Korakuen only recently opened in May 2018 and featured regular hotel rooms as well as cabin rooms, known as Global Cabins. Cabin rooms are becoming more and more popular in Tokyo due to its cheaper price and catered mainly to overnight stayers and budget travellers. Learn more about these new concept here.

Bigger than expected rooms

Dormy Inn hotels, like most business hotels in Tokyo, usually come with small rooms in the range of 13 to 15 sqm. However, on this trip, we were lucky to get a bigger than expected room even on this peak holiday period.

Being a new hotel, the rooms were spanky clean. The interior fittings were nicely positioned too and offers much walking space for us to put our two big luggages.

Kasuga no Spring

Soaking in the traditional Japanese hot spring in the winter after a day of shopping is the best way to revitalise the tired body. We had always enjoyed the Onsen facilities of every Dormy Inn hotel. The Korakuen branch onsen, known as Kasuga no Spring, is one of the biggest we had seen in a Dormy Inn hotel.

Unfortunately, there is no outdoor onsen here.

Dining and Relax corner

The dining and relax corner is located just beside the Onsen area. The space is huge. Especially catered for cabin stayers to get out of their confined area and utilised. There are massage chairs for patrons to use (at 200 yen every 10 minutes) and a huge collection of manga/comics to borrow.

Another trademark of Dormy Inn hotels is the free ramen every night from 9pm to 11pm. Just head down to the dining area and fill up your hunger with this great supper. If you missed the timing, you can also get a free cup noodle from the reception in the lobby.

Superb location with train access

Dormy Inn Korakuen is one of the few Dormy Inn branch that is conveniently located near train stations. There are 3 stations to choose from.

  • Korakuen station - By Tokyo Metro. Connects to the Marunouchi and Namboku line. The hotel is a 5 minutes walk from the station.
  • Kasuga station - By Toei Subway. Connects to the Oedo and Mita Line. The hotel is a 2 minutes walk from the station.
  • Suidobashi station - By JR. Connects to the Yamanote Line. The hotel is a 10 minutes walk from the station.
Nearby attractions include the Tokyo Dome City which is a great place for families to enjoy the amusement parks, indoor theme parks, and other sports facilities.
