Without a doubt, autumn is a good season to remember. It may not be the best, but I know that at least it conceals it very well, to the point of appearing so. Like leaves that sway at the slightest hint of breeze, thoughts acquire the dimension of those soap bubbles that flooded the subtle worlds of a good man, let's give him the surname Machado, just to give him a relevant example and fluttering with imperious rebellion, reject the physical barrier of the locks, abandoning the carcassed bars of the Semper fidelis and nostalgic trunk of memories. They become, comparatively speaking, prisoners trapped and mercilessly reduced by the bloodhounds of prose.

Anyone would say that in just a few seconds, demonstrating Alberto Einstein's theory of relativity -I give myself the whim of familiarity, because perhaps we both belong to one of those twelve lost tribes of Sepharad, The point of departure and arrival are split into just a few tenths of a second, to the point of having the relative sensation - that if man is the only animal that stumbles twice on the same stone, it will be because perhaps he is born with the innate ability to stumble - that in reality, one has not moved at all; and if he has or would have, he hasn't even noticed it.
IMG_1509.JPG

Perhaps that is why I now have the impression that I am no longer sitting placidly in that room that distils the taste of home through its four walls, crammed with books and memories that also accumulate in my soul like small, restless bastards that produce endless instants of satisfaction and distaste, nor do I let myself be captivated by the cigarette smoke scrolls that rise gently and lazily, exploding like fragile supernova against that frontier of the final chaos that is the ceiling.
IMG_1501.JPG

Of course, I do not believe to lie, if I affirm that the prose makes that, once trapped so rebellious and unstable thoughts, a servant, that not in vain carries the well-deserved nickname of Caminante - earned possibly with more right than many honorable gentlemen that shine without scruple the Laureate Cross of San Fernando in their breasts, with no other merits than a chusquera and ordained barracks life, imagine, feel or remember that Rioseco de Soria has just left behind -a place to which at the time he intends to pay the compliment he deserves, and heads like a shooting star towards infinite solitudes that alternate low brush, some solitary fields of labour and a vast area of paradigmatic, mysterious and indefinable parameric frontier, whose sole vision always makes the spirit sympathise with the lyric of the wind, with the whisper of the unknown crouching between the bushes and the bushes, as well as with the pressing sensation of an epic adventure in the making.
IMG_1518.JPG

A few kilometres further, three, perhaps five at the most - that in Spain, the eye of a good cubero has always been a genuinely practiced sport -, a sign points to a place -Escobosa de Calatañazor- that for years has swelled the terrible black list of the region's depopulated people. Although not visible to the naked eye, the poplar treetops, sad in their solitude, rock branches that still retain the deadly embrace of the icy winter, immutable in the same place where their deadly leaves stagnate the water that once cheerfully overflowed from the old fountain, located in the lower part of a slope over which reigns the unwrapped framework of a no less old church, in whose simple belfry, the bell no longer intones even the pitiful ringing of absences on the eve of the night of the dead and the stork, perhaps only for this year, passed completely by San Blas.
IMG_1519.JPG

Following the example of the stork, and passing by, Torreandaluz appears, six kilometres further on, as a Mohammedan jaima stretched out among the fine sands of the desert. Beyond the little houses with white façades and red tejaroz -some displaying symbols that were already paradigms since the dawn of times-, you can see, close to that point where the road continues, turning its back on the village like a river that goes away until it fuses with the sea, the church tower.
This is the parish church of Santo Domingo de Silos, and from it a small but interesting Romanesque route begins. Despite the degree of remodelling or deterioration of its temples, it nevertheless provides a multitude of interesting details.
IMG_1525.JPG

It is true, on the other hand, that in this parish of Torreandaluz, other moods were conjugated that, foreseeably in the seventeenth century, ended up modifying it almost completely. From such a performance, the main cover barely survives. A splendid façade, by more signs, which never ceases to surprise, firstly, by its voluminous constitution, which probably denotes the large of the original Romanesque temple that housed it, and secondly, by the interesting elements, although scarce, that it still contains.
IMG_1521.JPG

Apart from the Jaqués-style chess that is evident in one of its archivolts, these elements are none other than the various historic capitals, whose painstaking work and theme attract powerful attention. In them, it is not difficult to appreciate this knightly struggle, similar to that of the other in which the pilgrim in Estella usually fixes himself and going towards the church of San Pedro de la Rúa, notices in the Palace of the Kings of Navarre.
IMG_1531.JPG

Tremendous, likewise, is the struggle of a Samson, alien to the loss of hair in Salome snatched his strength, desquijando the lion. Evidently, and this is a call of attention, because the element abounds to the point of appearing, comparatively speaking a personal mark of the stonemason, the harpies, those terrifying beasts that the great poet Dante Alighieri placed in the second zone of the Seventh Circle of his Divine Comedy with the task of tearing the tree trunks in which the suicides had become, they campeat to their widths, not very far from another capital that shows, perhaps to calm the terrified soul of the Christian, a humble and melancholic acanthus leaf.
IMG_1528.JPG

But possibly, because of the perfection of his work, because of the balance of his figures and perhaps because, after all, music and dance have always been of capital importance since the dawn of time, the capital of musicians and dancers could even be considered as little less than unique in the province.
IMG_1529.JPG

In short, a small treasure worth discovering.
