There are beautiful areas in Thailand and then there are "more beautiful areas" in Thailand...it depends what you like. If you enjoy the warm and sun of the Southern beaches then Thailand has some of the best beaches in the world.
But how many people know of the beautiful mountain areas in Thailand and the cooler temperatures that prevail? In the Phitsanulok area in Central Thailand is the Bok Lon Mountain and if you like mountain climbing and photography (and cooler temperatures), this is for you!
Once in your life you can enjoy climbing into the "clouds" and actually getting to use your mountain boots and camping gear.
It was beautiful to say the least and one would think they are not in Thailand as you feel the cool mist of the clouds and lower temperature.
And if you love photography, I think you will very much enjoy the panoramic views from the top as you look above the clouds.
There are other mountain areas as well in the North of Thailand in the Chang Mai area that have the same feeling.
We had to set up our base camp because we wanted the "hiking experience". However, there are local homestay places for people who wish for the creature comforts of life :-)
You are about 4 hours from Bangkok by car, but there is also an airport close by that can be used if you wish for quicker transportation. For us, we had 1/2 of our team choose the homestay option as we enjoyed nature.
Sunrise and sunsets to me were opportunities to practice my photography skills. I feel blessed to be able to record and have these moments with my family.
Of course, everyone wants the scenic view and feeling that you have conquered the mountain:-) The mountain let us win today and provided nice cool weather and plenty of sunshine as we made our way slowly.
Whatever you enjoy in life, this little area hit all my likes. It was quiet, beautiful and allows me to enjoy the mountain area of Thailand. If you enjoy hiking, biking and camping, look up this area and enjoy!
