Mon Sai Lom - mountain destination- Chaing Mai, Thailand

July 2020 · 2 min read · Thailand

For the people of Chaing Mai, summer can be hot and the good news is that in the North of Thailand, there are many mountain destinations to get away and cool off.

And that was the reason behind our trip to Mon Sai Lom mountain area. We did not know much about it before and as we arrived we learned it is more than just fresh mountain air.

This was a getaway trip with my young cousins, so this was good for them and for me.

There is a resort area up in Mon Sai Lom and many hillside crops that looked beautiful. The view at the top was like in a movie for me. It was unlike the hustle of the city of Chaing Mai and the mountain air felt good...even a little cool.

There were flowers that I usually don’t see in bloom and the various resort cottages were like white dots on the hillside.

We weren’t here for the resort. We were here for a brief time to be in the hills and see only what we have heard about before.

It was fun seeing another side of Thailand. The top view gave us a view of more green hill tops and crops.

I know they can grow coffee in northern Thailand in the mountains but I did not see those crops.

The people that live up here certainly have a different lifestyle. The tourists that come to this area have a few places to visit like a local Temple or market, but what you see mostly are places for tourists to stay in local cottages or homes.

We walked around and explored the planned out village of tourist homes and enjoyed our afternoon.

A good photo of my younger cousins.

This was a small trip to be with my younger cousins and spend time with them. It was many years not seeing them and they were certainly much smaller. We enjoyed our time, the mountain air and a chance to talk about family.
