Wat Muang Thai Temple must have the largest “golden Buddha” in Temple. I had to see it with my own eyes. How tall you say? How about 92 meters tall! I recall as we were approaching the Temple you could see the Buddha from a distance. It is to be the largest statue in Thailand and amongst the top 10 largest statues in the World.
Wat Muang is located in Pham Cham Sin which is close to the larger city of Ang Thong (about 2.5 hours from Bangkok—so leave early).
The Temple grounds have the giant Buddha, a rather large garden and a few other temples containing more statues and historical walls depicting stories.
The garden is a beautiful design as it sits in the center of the grounds.
There are plenty of food shops if you need to buy food or drink. Inside the Temple grounds was peaceful and quiet out of respect to the Buddha.
As we were driving back home from Ayutthaya province, my aunt wanted to show me another old Thai temple (Sang Kratai) we had not seen before and had the marvelous Bodhi tree (fig tree) attached to this ancient temple over 400 years to the Ayutthaya period.
The temple looks as if it’s delicate condition but it has stood the test of time and gave such beautiful photography moments.
Of course we had to eat after smelling all the delicious food near the Temple. We enjoyed our noodles, papaya salad and grilled chicken. The noodle bowl and spoon as you can see in the photo is made from coconut shell.
