Memoirs @ tihiy-chelovek for staying (life) in Odessa region, Belyaevsky district

Belyaevka, Odessa region, Ukraine

Now I’ll try to recall (according to Shchukar’s grandfather, “scatter”!) That which has not yet been touched upon in publications.

I recall with pleasure Gradenitsa with their chic floodplains on the Turunchuk River, a concrete dam as a crossing to the Moldavian side and incredible hospitality on both banks of the glorious river. How many times have I walked there, crossing from the Odessa region to Moldova, through Nezavertylovka in the direction of the magnificent Dniester (Moldavskaya TPP), where I organized a small tour of my theater! While walking along the dam, he rejected the active offers of the accompanying pilgrims to give a ride, because could there be anything more pleasant and charming than a walk through the meadows?

Once, on the Moldovan side, I was on a Sunday, and all catering points, for this reason, were closed that day, there was nowhere to eat. And to return on foot to Gradenitsy is a few hours ... Upon reflection, I decided to ask for lunch for the first person I came across, of course, with a proposal to pay for an unexpected and unforeseen meal for the owner!

I was not only kindly received in my house, but also excellently fed, generously treating me with incomparable home-made wine from the cellar, flatly refusing any payment! By the way, I consider Moldovan wine, especially home-made wine, the best in the world ...

On the Odessa coast, in Gradenitsy, where we arrived on tour (already from Leningrad), we went on a fine sunny day just to the shore of Turunchuk, so to speak, on an impromptu outing: have a light bite, enjoy the air, enjoy the estuary ...

There were ten of us, guest performers, and we brought a modest meal with us rather quickly. And here we came to meet (to a greater extent, as I suppose, young actresses) two guys who also had a picnic on the banks of the river: it was clear that their "clearing" was very generously covered; without hesitation, the guys invited our entire theatrical “camp” to their “clearing”, and the various treats they brought for two people (that is, for themselves) were more than enough for all the many eaters, both hosts and visitors! This is what I understand, a picnic that really reflects the then prosperity of Ukrainians in the Odessa region!

We took our performances very warmly, the clubs were full of public, which was surprising in comparison with Russia ...

I remember with special warmth the head of the Gradenitsky Club, Yuri Kalashlinsky and his wife Tay, they repeatedly and extremely carefully took me in their house as a dear guest, sometimes left for the night, and I was always warmed by their amazing kindness and respect!

In the same place, in Gradenitsy, there was one episode from my personal life that was not at all characteristic of me (when I was still living in Trinity, I didn’t even think about Leningrad).

I liked one lovely schoolgirl from Gradenitz, so expressively she looked at me at any meeting, that I could not stand it and thought: “Wouldn’t I marry her?” 16 years is not a hindrance, I will wait 2 years, and then to the registry office! And, wondering at himself, not even talking to my chosen one at all, even once, he went, as usual with decent people, to ask her beloved parents for her hands! I repeat, this is not at all characteristic of me, as if someone else was moving me ...

My parents were not surprised, they talked very warmly with me, my father only said that first there should be the consent of the applicant herself, but they are not against it. With this unexpectedly real hope, I returned to my usual way of life, the director of a folk theater. At that time I was 27 years old. And ... absolutely did NOTHING, did not even talk to the beauty!

When I left for Odessa (and then to Leningrad), already knowing that it was forever, she stood by the bus and looked at me through the window glass with such inexpressible expressiveness that my heart jumped out of my chest! Her look in my soul remained forever, along with a tangible contempt for myself ... Seven years ago, in the same Odessa region, in the village of Alekseyevka, Kodymsky district (this is the birthplace of my father), I first knew a woman, but I was then somehow perplexedly happy this circumstance, and now he was leaving, perhaps, from his real, real happiness for his whole life. A person is sometimes unpredictably stupid and cowardly even for himself!

I also remember how the famous Anatoly Karpov, the world chess champion, came to Troitsk on holiday with fishing, and I gladly shook his hand. The chess player was unusually open and friendly ...

Another memory. Once, going around the local population to personally invite the most active residents to the folk theater to participate in his studies and performances, I felt that one pretty lady of a respectable age reminds me of someone very much, but at that moment I still did not remember who . And only after asking other people from the theater, he found out that this woman was famous in her own way: during the war - it was she who regulated the movement of military vehicles on the turn to Berlin! Remember, there was a movie story where an almost young girl, beautiful and provocative, artistically copes with the traffic flow, chasing and happily playing with her index flags in her hands and directing Soviet soldiers to the German capital? The face of a modest woman from Troitsky still retained recognizable beauty and former enthusiasm, which I immediately noted to myself, but, unfortunately, due to her health, she was unable to participate in the theater. Now I have completely forgotten her surname ...

I also remember my singing at dances in both clubs of Troitsky, where I, insolently, tried to perform Gradsky’s songs from The Romance of Lovers. My then voice let me

a kind of insolence, and, most importantly - attracted the attention of many beautiful girls to their "banners"! This, as you know, is not immediately forgotten ...

In the Belyaevsky district (forever before my departure) I managed to live back in the village of Vasilyevka (this is on the Odessa-Chisinau highway 40 minutes drive from South Palmyra) and on the Avgustovka hamlet, on the banks of the Khadzhibeyevsky estuary. In the village of Vasilyevka they even gave me a three-room apartment, given my "theater camp", which I called for in the Odessa field ...

An episode is connected with Vasilyevka, which I described in one of the chapters of my free notes "Undershots". I will bring him in full.

“I remembered how one day I myself was severely beaten in the Odessa-Chisinau bus (back in Soviet times) ... There were literally a few cents to the required amount (and ten others brought me without official tickets to“ earn some money ”in my pocket ...) When it turned out that I could not pay a penny for the trip, instead of disembarking, they decided to take me right up to Chisinau and hand over the police there ... I realized that it was a disaster for me: to be completely without money away from my village, and even get to the police (which has never been distinguished by special with mercy) - this was absolutely unacceptable. At the time of passage through my village (this is 40 kilometers from Odessa) I began to grab the second driver by the chest, demanding to stop the bus and drop me off ... It wasn’t there! Those "bunnies" that sat down with me illegally, took the side of the carrier, and began to fight with zeal, until, finally, the bus stopped, and I was not thrown into the roadside ditch without shoes and in a fainting state ... There wasn’t I can’t see it, it was late at night ... When I woke up and realized which way to go, I wandered in one sock with such moans that the echo was heard all over the district ... In the morning I got home, my girlfriend didn’t recognize me at first, so I was tormented, and then burst into tears ... And the price of such an incomprehensible cruelty - a few miserable cents ... "

After the death of Vysotsky, which really shocked me, I left everything - and first went to the Mask Theater in Naberezhnye Chelny, and then (together with The Mask) for permanent residence in Leningrad. Odessa and Odessa region remained in my memory a little sad, but at the same time a very bright period of a hasty and somewhat reckless life. But the love of the grape edge of the Black Sea region remained in my heart a truly non-page of such a freakishly nomadic fate ...
