Monument to Chernobyl victims in Balta

October 2018 · 2 min read · Odesa Oblast

April 26, 1986 began with a loud incident. An explosion thundered at the Chernobyl NPP. A nightmarish ejection divided the lives of many people into “before” and “after”. Soldiers, specialists in various scientific fields and the Ministry of Emergency Situations were sent to the scene of the accident. A large-scale rescue operation began.

Unfortunately, not everyone was able to survive in the hell that was going on there. Practically all Chernobyl victims had serious diseases. At the same time, many simply died at the site of the explosion.

In order to eliminate the consequences of the accident, people from different regions and cities were sent to Chernobyl. In every village there are heroes who gave their lives for saving people. In Balta, a monument to Chernobyl victims is located on ul. Uvarova, near the city local history museum.

Pay attention to the photos. The monument itself consists of three parts. In the center we see a large element, conditionally divided into 2 parts. Here we are reminded of the date of the terrible accident. Nearby are written words of appreciation to those who did not spare their lives saving people. Yes, the author of the monument is right, the memory of the heroes and their exploits is eternal!

On two sides of the central element, we see lists. These are residents of the city of Balta, who gave their lives on the territory of Chernobyl itself after the completion of all rescue activities. After all, it is no secret that those who fought for the lives of each of us received a strong radiation. They died slowly and painfully. Already far from the scene of the accident.

We offer to honor the memory of the heroes with a minute of silence!
