Odessa region is rich in legends of treasures. All regions have their own stories. But not all of them are true. Yes and it is not always possible to understand whether the legend is reliable or not. There is a legend in Belyaevka.

How it all started

The advent of the legend
The advent of the legend

During the Russo-Turkish War of 1828 - 1829, two residents of the village of Belyaevka (at that time the settlement was still a village) were included in the Russian army. Their connection stopped for the night in one small village. Guys fell on a bunker to the Turk. But the owner was fluent in Russian.

In the evening, over a cup of tea, they got into a conversation. When the Turk found out that our guys were from Belyaevka, he decided to tell them one legend. Rather, not so much a legend as personal memories.

The owner said that earlier, in the place of Belyaevka, a Turkish settlement was located. It was called Kalu-Dere. On the territory of this settlement was a Turkish stone mosque. The owner claimed that it was he who was her caretaker. The Turk indicated that the mosque itself was located in the area of the modern bus station. At the same time, a cemetery was located within the modern Green Farm.

When the Turks left these spaces, the servant of the mosque collected all the gold and jewelry in a cauldron. Going out into the street, he buried the treasure. But where exactly, so no one even recognized.

When the guys returned to their native village, they began to search. Armed with shovels, the lads began to dig. They carried out all their affairs secretly so that no one would guess. Having dug up the whole space around the Mosque, they did not stop and set to work at the cemetery. But alas. Digging through the whole space, they never found the treasure.

Old residents of the city say that the mosque was finally destroyed at the beginning of the 20th century. But even then the treasure was not found. One can only guess whether the Turks told the truth, or all of his tales turned out to be fiction. True, perhaps the treasure has long been found, sold, and the proceeds have been spent. It turns out that our contemporaries should not take up shovels and dig up the territory of the Belyaevsky district.

A few words for the Turkish settlement of Kalu-Dere

Where was the Turkish settlement
Where was the Turkish settlement

On the outskirts of the city, towards the village of Yaski, there is a small bridge. The entire territory, on both sides of the bridge, to the right - to the reservoir, to the left - overgrown with reeds, through a small stream, to the military unit, the indigenous people call Coluder. Apparently, the name came from the Turkish settlement, which was located here long before the foundation of Belyaevka.

These are not all interesting stories about the city of regional significance Belyaevka. We will repeatedly return to the history and legends of Belyaevka. But at the same time, we will not forget about other settlements and spaces of our Motherland - Odessa region!
