New Year Hike from Toi Onsen to Heda Port, in Izu.

January 2023 · 2 min read · Izu

On the second of January 2023 we got the train to Shuzenji station, then bus to Toi. We arrived about 10.30am. This was commendable as the amount of alcohol being consumed several hours before was dangerously high.

The weather was great, a little cold and a little windy at points, but great for the time of year. The hike did go along the main road for about 30 minutes on and off, but most of the walk was in the country and quiet.

We didn't come across too many points of interest, or beautiful views, it was just a decent walk to get a bit of exercise in between the drinking and eating. The walk took about 4 hours and when we got to Heda, we walked to the seafront to get a meal from one of the lovely fish restaurants along the sea road.

After a nice meal, we walked to the roadside station, a little inland, and had a hot spring soak, before returning to Shuzenji again by bus and starting to drink again.
