First day of December 2019

December 2019 · 2 min read

Baguio City's Christmas kicked off with a kids mardi gras but we unfortunately were unable to watch it.

We only got to see the end of the line. They were all lined up already at Melvin Jones.

Most roads were closed to vehicles to give way for the city's celebration.

We were unable to see the parade but we saw these kids who joined the parade earlier. They were in Session Road for people to admire and take photos.

We went back to the city after lunch to find a spot for the lantern parade that evening. It started at 6:00 in the evening but people were already on the roadside as early as 3:00 in the afternoon.

We saw newer drawings on the road though.

The VW Club also had a show that day and left before the parade.

Last minute touch up were still being done on the tree.

We couldn't find a good spot so decided to stay where there are spaghetti wires obstructing the view. We didn't mind for we just wanted to enjoy the show.

These performers seem unfazed by the chilliness of the afternoon and evening. They were wearing Cordilleran traditional costumes.

This lantern parade is an annual event that local and tourists look forward to. The cool climate here in the mountains is a perfect setting. People from the lowlands love coming hete to experience it.

Here is a video I compiled from last night's event.
