Army Museum - A History of Weaponry Evolution

Pakistan Army Museum is located in Rawalpindi behind PC hotel and its entrance is from CSD shopping mall. It was opened in 1961 to preserve Pakistan Army's past through relics and pictures. Pakistan Army Museum is one of the largest museums of Pakistan.



At the entrance of Army Museum a big statute of Sepoy (Later Subedar) Khudadad Khan (VC) is present. Khudadad Khan was the first south Asian Muslim soldier of the British Indian Army who was awarded the highest military award Victoria Cross on performing bravery at Hiollebeke (Belgium) during world war-1 on 31 October 1914.



In the lobby of army museum the statue of Quid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah first governor general of Pakistan addressing the gathering of Punjab regiment on 15th April 1948 is mounted. In lobby an old Cadillac Fleetwood (1956) model is also displayed which was in the use of General Muhammad Ayub Khan, General Muhammad Musa and General Muhammad Yahya Khan (Former President and Army chief of Pakistan).




Army museum is split in different sections, in first section small arms of ancient times is at display. In this section armors used in 18 centuries and some weapons used by famous warriors are also displayed. In this section you also see Haider Ali and Tipu Sultan's (Famous Muslim Indian Rulers) personal weapons like swords, bow and arrows.







In this museum the 16th century brass cannon used by Sher Shah Suri against Ghakhars is also mounted.



Indian captured Willy jeep is also displayed with 106 mm Recoilless rifle of Pakistan Army.



In this Army museum you can see Triumph Tiger-750 cc used by corps of military police to escort given to international and national heads of states.



In Army museum they have paid tribute to Mule animals as well. Mule is the best in the rugged mountainous terrain. Where any infantryman goes the army services corps Mule also goes and helps him to survive and fight.



Over all best place to visit if you are interested to see the evolution of army. Every section of this museum is constructed with some theme and has shown every little detail. In this Army museum you can see world's highest war ground Siachen, Tanks, machine guns, different uniforms of army units. This museum also depicts battlefield situation in a dramatic way.
