Last month my friend came to visit me and I took her to a local market. It is located amongst some old dwellings that have been converted to a tourist attraction
These dwellings used to be military accommodation that were built before the war. Nobody lives here anymore and the ground level houses have been coverted to shops and there's a market outside. We can go to the first floor and it very nice to walk around, not to mention the houses are very instagrammable.
One of the shops is occupied by Two Day who sells souffle pancakes. It is one of the latest fad from Japan and very popular in many Asian countries.
My friend said she's never tried souffle pancakes before, so this was the perfect venue for afternoon tea as there is a nice outdoor seating area.
We saw this massive banner when we arrived, it was for a seasonal strawberry yogurt souffle pancake. Being girls at heart, we were immediately drawn to the pretty pink. We also studied the menu to see what else was on offer.
The serving area is inside the shop and it was quite busy. Many people seemed like tourist visiting the market and was just dropping by to browse as they walked out without ordering anything. We placed our order and went back outside to wait as it takes about twenty minutes to cook.
On the way out, I captured this photo of a little staircase by the corner. I think it original leads to the upstairs of this unit but since Two Day only rented the downstairs, they've sealed it off. It's actually makes a great display unit and they puts lots of cute ornaments on the stairs. That's a great use of space.
It was very pleasant to sit and chat here and we didn't mind at all to wait for our food. Finally our souffle pancakes arrived. And boy, was is not pretty! We also ordered a second plain one with maple syrup. You didn't think we would share one between the two of us did you? They were so good I could have had two myself.😊
