An old lighthouse or mill? at Umdoni Park Golf Course - I tried my best to find info on this but no success.

For today's Wednesday Walk Challenge run by that wonderful photographer @tattoodjay, I will be taking you back to the little coastal town of Pennington that I shared with you a couple of weeks ago as we did quite a walkabout house-hunting and having lunch at Umdoni Park Golf Course.

So we fell in love with this quaint little town and started looking at property down there - debating the pros and cons of moving and starting a little bnb down by the sea.

Historical background
The town was named after an English farmer Pennington who lived there in the late 19th century. The sugar magnate, Sir Frank Reynolds bought part of that farm and built a home which he named Umdoni Park after the Mdoni (Water Myrtle) trees in the area. Sir Frank also built a magnificent seaside residence with stunning views of the ocean for South African prime ministers as he had great admiration for the first premier of the Union, General Louis Botha. Interesting that King George VI of Britain was planning to visit Botha House when his health was failing, but he never made it there.
Pennington is set on a hillside above the Indian Ocean.

We're really in our comfort zone here on the outskirts of the city - Lilys Cottage is running smoothly with regular bookings and many returning guests, plus we have amazing staff. Do we really want to rock the boat just now?

On the other hand, if we leave it too long, will we still have the oomph to start from scratch as there's much to do in setting up a guesthouse/bnb?

House with many possibilities - also has a two bedroom cottage on the property, with its own entrance.

We love meeting people from all over the world and making their vacations or business stays special plus the extra income helps in maintaining all our little luxuries.
Should we not rather be looking at scaling down at this stage?

But while we're debating, we can still look, not so!

I will show you a little of the garden in this house that's really pulling at our heart strings; a house with many possibilities, two bedroom cottage with own entrance on the property and only a 5 minute walk to the beach.
There is quite a number of iron sculptures on display in the beautifully kept garden.

Massive balconies with views of the ocean which can also be seen from the main bedroom.

Then it was off to the Umdoni Golf Course for a bite to eat, not to play the game! Gorgeous views of the clubhouse and the warm Indian Ocean greeted us. It was a real hot day as well, so an ice cold drink was most welcome when we finally reached the clubhouse.

We were told these two interesting buildings were the old pumphouse and lighthouse.
