Ponta Delgada/ Azores

How nice to be back on the Azores. I wanted to let @AlohaToOm restrict me again, because I have a blockage in the thoracic spine, which was quickly solved, because Dr. Pawel knows the techniques of fascial manipulation very well. I've been going to him for a long time because I think he's the only doctor I know who can do it and because the treatments are fast, we still had enough time to explore the area of this beautiful island.
So we walked around in the near of the harbour and I was allowed to visit the Saint Sebastian church.

the church of Saint Sebastian

The parish church of St. Sebastian, dedicated to the saint of the same name, is very close to the city gate of Ponta Delgada and thus directly on the sea.
The origin of the church building dates back to 1533.
Cool, isn't it?

It is historically written that this holy person was martyred during the persecution of Christians by the Roman Emperor Diocletian in 288. This legend tells that Saint Sebastian was tied to a stake and then shot with several arrows, but miraculously he survived. Not only that, Saint Sebastian even healed the Roman emperor Diocletian. Unfortunately, however, his life was taken from him... Therefore the saint should become the main patron of Ponta Delgada.

The construction of the church of St. Sebastian is very interesting because it was built in the form of a Latin cross with the main façade facing west.

Everything needs a refreshing from time to time and so this happened in the 1950s. The work began to restore the building to its original splendour. That is why this building shines today, as it did 100 years ago.

When @AlohaToOm and I walked there, an art event was taking place. What luck to see even more interesting things.

the Walk&Talk Event

Walk&Talk will take place in São Miguel from July 5 to 20, 2019, and will offer approximately fifty artists, collectives and curators the opportunity to present themselves. Many unpublished projects, art, dance, performance, architecture, design, cinema and music will be presented.
This event is organized by art lovers.

What a wonderful day. Thanks to @AlohaToOm for the treatment and the good conversations.

Ponta Delgada/ Azoren
