A trip to Bangkok would not be complete without visiting Chatuchak Weekend Market. I'm not a big shopper but taking a trip out there is definitely an experience. It's an outdoor and indoor market with over 15,000 stalls. You can buy anything from plants, to pets, clothing, Thai handicrafts and much more. I was on a search for some Thai ceramic dishes and they have a huge household section so ventured out to the market. Even though the market is about 35 acres, it is organized into sections and there are maps in different languages to help navigate you to your area of interest.

Once you get to the section, the start of the walk ways have signs which coordinate with the map showing you the area you are in and which alley way. You will have to enter the walk way because there are many stalls in there and many sell the same items at different prices. The stalls have no names so if you want to make a trip back to a particular stall you will have to remember it's location.

Although the section may list household, you can run into something totally unrelated. Here is a stand for plastic fruit and vegetables.

I guess you can use some plastic fruits and veggies for household decor. I ran into the coolest paper store while looking for dishes.

Further along the alley I came across a diffuser store, still no dishes.

After walking through a few walk ways under household and seeing all sorts of interesting stalls I finally came to the end and out on the side were the ceramics. Success!

There is also a giant food section in the market. Although I have heard many people telling me how they have had some of the best food there, I am a bit skeptical. I always pass by stalls with incredible looking food but with 80 degree F plus weather and food sitting out unrefrigerated, I am afraid of getting sick.

For me I found the best way to get to Chatuchak is to take the BTS all the way to Mo Chit and from there it is about a 5 minute walk to the market. You can also take the MRT to Chatuchak Park Station. Just follow the crowd to the market. It's a fun way to spend a few hours on a weekend.
