What makes New Zealand so amazing? You can be on the beach in the morning, enjoying the sun and the nice weather and do a glacier hike on a mountain of ice in the afternoon!

I always wanted to fly in a helicopter and when i got the chance in New Zealand to do so, i didnt have to think twice!

That morning i had been on the beach, that was already so beautiful but this helicopter trip is what really made it my best day in New Zealand!

The west coast of Southern Island is absolutely stunning, later on in this post Abel Tasman national park, also incredible!

We were a little bit unlucky with the weather, cloudy on the mountain so i can imagine it would be even better on a sunny day, nevertheless it was so nice flying true the mountains towards the glacier...it really feels like you are playing the main role in an action movie ;-)

From the air the glacier looks messy, ofcourse it was summer so the glacier was melting with a muddy and rocky result at the bottom.
But once you walked up the glacier you could find beautiful colors of blue and the glazier trandformed in to a maze of icey corridors, the sound of dripping water made it a mysterious adventure!

Try to find the people on the last picture, it gives you an idea how big this wall of ice actually was!

The hike was nice, but if im honest .....it was all about the heli ride!

Another must see on the Southern Island is Abel tasman national park, i stayed at a place called: The Barn, no luxury here but an excellent location rigth in front of the entrance of the park! Simple cabins with a superb view in the morning!

I went on a sailing trip on a catamaran, i really enjoyed it, sight seeing, seals, and a mysterious rock that was split in half :-)

In the afternoon we stopped on a cute little beach and we had the choice to walk back or sail back home, im glad i went for the walk eventhough it was a long one! What a walk that was, i fell completely in love with this part of New Zealand!

Ive never seen so many different colors of green ....really hope i can go back here one day!

The walk back took me a long the coast and i just couldnt stop taking pictures of small pretty beaches, unfortunately i tripped over a tree trunk (yep the slippers and no shoes mistake grrr) and had to walk 2 more hours with a swollen and bleeding toe. I was Lucky the walk was so nice, it distracted me i quess cos the next day i couldnt walk anymore :-(

I was planning on a much longer walk, a 4 day hike true the park but with my f*cked up toe i had to skip that. Absolutely a reason to go back here, it was an amazing place!
