What better place to spend thefirst days of autumn than in a waterfront cottage? The last week was incredibly hot. Although the AC went continuously during this heat wave, it was hot. Thus we decided to leave the city for two days, go to a cottage.
Since it was a last minute thing and it was a long week-end (Labour Day), we weren't surprised when we were told that everything was booked and there was nothing available. Luckily we did find a place available, at Lake Caché, which was not that far from the city.
After less than a two hours drive, we reached our destination in the Laurentian Mountains.
The last twenty kilometres we did were on dirt road where the signs looke like this:
As soon as we stepped out of the car it started to rain. That didn't prevent us from enjoying ourselves and having fun outdoors.
The cottage itself wasn't too fancy, but it was spacious enough to host us and two other friends who wished to join us and their dog.
Here's a photo of the inside of the cottage. As you can see he had lots of games and books in there.
I was thrilled it was by the water and it had two kayaks, a pedalling boat and a canoe. More than enough for all of us.
Needless to add that I headed straight to the water. I hadn't been in a kayak since I got Lyme. Now that I was feeling much better, I wondered if I was still able to do it.
I had to give it a try. It felt great to be back on the water. It had a soothing effect on me.
Meanwhile, my little artist was busy taking photos with my phone of all the flowers he found on the property, under my friend's supervision.
I think he did a pretty good job. Some of the photos were blurry, but these ones were stunning!
He confessed he had chased that butterfly for close to twenty minutes until he was able to take some photos of it.
This photo of a tree trunk was great! He even added a funky edit to it! He explained that it was a petrified dinosaur claw.
These mushrooms were growing on the same tree you saw in the photo above.
I also loved this photo of the shed's door that he had taken. That shade of green was lovely!
The following day we did a bit more of exploring, on the lake and on land. The views around the lake were beautiful.
This cottage and its surroundings was an oasis of serendipity, the perfect place to charge the batteries and get some inspiration for more work.
Although there were plenty of cottages around the lake, we were not disturbed by anyone or any noise at all!
The only sounds we heard at night were the crickets and the loons.
In the night we had a cool fire camp, but no marshmallows. That's because I had forgotten them at home. Brain fog doesn't help remembering a bunch of stuff. Therefore had to settle for stories around the fire, like in the old days.
