Hello friends and readers of my blog! A walk - is always good. But today is Wednesday and it's always a special trip, so I invite You with me for #wednesdaywalk

Where am I? Well, I didn't get far from town today. I decided to stay and show you a little tour of our fortress. I climbed the wall of the Peter and Paul fortress. This allows you to see the panorama of the city and the fortress.

This choice of a place for a walk is not accidental :). It's a very hot summer. City streets are filled with bright scorching sun and only near water bodies you can feel comfortable.

You probably know that St. Petersburg has a large number of rivers and canals, so even in extreme heat we feel great in our city. Wherever you go you are always close to the water.

The fortress where I am is located on the "Hare Island". It is the historical center of our city. The first construction began from this place. It was here that the city was founded in 1703 by Peter I.

On the island are 2 bridge. There are several berths for pleasure boats. There is a small city beach but swimming is prohibited due to the large shipping traffic.

The size of the island is 750 m long and almost 360 m wide. The fortress wall completely surrounds it on all sides with a dense ring. If you go up to the observation deck, you can go through it almost the entire perimeter of the fortress, except for the place where there are guns that give a daily volley, which tells us that it is noon. (see there in the distance? I've marked them with thin red lines.)

Today, the day when the Peter and Paul fortress was founded, is considered to be the birthday of our city. In our time, all the buildings inside the fortress serve as museums and exhibitions. Here you can get acquainted with all the historical facts about the history of the city. There is always a lot of interesting events. This is perhaps one of the most visited places in our city.

The spire of the Cathedral of Peter and Paul is the hallmark of our city. This soaring angel on a spire has been protecting our city from troubles and misfortunes for more than 300 years.

Here, inside the fortress you can always visit various excursions and see many interesting expositions. It's always crowded here. There are various cafes and restaurants.

I have repeatedly told about the various details of this place and the readers of my blog probably remember some of them. On the right we see a large dome. This building is the Royal tomb of the Romanov Imperial House. There are burials of our emperors of several generations.

By the way, the Peter and Paul Cathedral is a Museum and a functioning Cathedral. Inside it looks like this

But I have already told you about this interesting place and it's a different story :). Today we just walk and enjoy our wonderful summer, beautiful weather and beautiful views of the city, the river and the fortress.
