Hello everyone, Welcome to my travel blog. This time I'm going to share with you my past safari experience where we went Kaudulla national park in Sri Lanka. There were large number of elephants included biggest and smallest once. Actually I saw large number of elephants since Minneriya and Udawalawa national parks. But I looked more elephants since Kaudulla than others.

We came to the entrance gate from our vehicle. But we down from van and selected safari jeep to go inside national park since entrance. We bought tickets from counter and office marked how many people go to the safari because they want to take response of visitors.

Our vehicle drove 13 km from Habarana junction to Trincomalee road. From there, you will find the entrance to Kaudulla National Forest when you travel four kilometers along the Minneriya Road from the Square Fort Junction.

We were came to inside of the national park. Taking some photos while driving the jeep was not that clear. Kaudulla National Park which is spread over an area of 6900 hectares is located in the Polonnaruwa District.

Several canals of water were distributed along the Kaudulla reservoir to the surrounding farming areas. The slopes of the old irrigation technology were also seen. There were so many Khomba trees. It's shades and winds so fresh.

The peacock is very common bird everywhere in Sri Lanka. In my childhood peacocks saw only from forests. But now they grow much faster here and slowly they're coming to very close to town areas.

Our safari jeep came to the largest free space location where were lived elephants lot. Firstly the tusked elephant walked like a team leader. Lot of elephants didn't attacked to the visitors if they didn't disturbed to elephants. Elephants respect to the visitors always. I heard only few times they were cruel.

This park is famous for being one of the most beautiful places where you can see about 400 elephants at a time. Kaudulla National Park is the only national park in Sri Lanka that is surrounded by water for almost a few months of the year.

We saw this elephant population well during the dry season. You can clearly see that the water of the Kaudulla reservoir is running low.

Dry weather in Kaudulla National Park lasts from April to October. The annual rainfall varies between 1500 and 2000 mm. The annual temperature varies from 22 to 34 degrees Celsius. In the east, the Kaudulla reservoir extends from the southern boundary of the Giant Canal to the northern border. Thanks for visiting. See you again.
