MY FIRST DAY ON THE OLD CONTINENT #TBT - MI PRIMER DÍA EN EL VIEJO CONTINENTE #TBT

May 2020 · 4 min read · Rome

Hello Hive friends, I am here again on this Thursday of remembrance, and today I want to tell you about my trip to the old continent, specifically to the eternal city of Rome. Knowing Italy was the dream of my heart, and even on that February day, boarding the plane, I could not believe all that was happening to me.

My soul friend was my traveling companion. We arrived in Rome city in the morning, I remember that I was tired and sleepy because of the jetlag, in my country it would be approximately 2am, so I tried to keep my eyes open to enjoy the train trip. Once we got to the city the emotion was enormous. At first we got lost, it's funny that we were a few blocks from our inn and we couldn't find it, but finally we found the right street and arrived at the inn.

Let me tell you that I was at a disadvantage since I did not speak Italian at all. Many may think that it is similar to Spanish and therefore it is easy, but it is not like that. I depended on my friend in all aspects.

Rome was what I imagined and more, I was delighted with its small stone streets and the beauty of its buildings, I loved the cold weather, I was in the city of my dreams living that reality. After a short rest we went out to explore the surroundings.

We visited some nearby churches, squares and museums. Everything in Rome is worthy of a photo, since it is an ancient and wonderful place, full of so much history, I was also happy to share that experience with my friend, I knew that she was enjoying it it as much as me, it was the adventure of our lives.

Conocimos algunas iglesias, plazas y museos cercanos.

I was impatient to see the Vatican City and the Coliseum, the most important landmarks of the city, but seeing the surroundings was enough for that day, I expected much more for the following day. We had coffee before going to sleep and that was the end of my first day on the old continent. See you next Thursday.
