A half-day trip from Koh Lipe to Koh Adang

October 2018 · 2 min read · Satun Province

A few weeks ago I already reported on Steemit about my stay on the dream island Koh Lipe in Thailand. I was not only on Koh Lipe, but also made a trip to the larger neighboring island of Koh Adang.

Although Koh Adang is not as paradise-like as Koh Lipe, it is much more pristine and untouched. Koh Adang is the second largest island of the Tarutao Marine National Park. Thus, Koh Adang belongs to the national park and a ranger watches over the island. From the Sunrise Beach on Koh Lipe the crossing with the boat takes only about 10 minutes. From many parts of Koh Lipe, especially from Sunrise Beach, you can also see Koh Adang.

Koh Adang viewpoint

The highlight of Koh Adang is certainly the viewpoint, from which you have a fantastic view over Koh Lipe and the surrounding area. The ascent to the first viewpoint is relatively easy and there are ropes to hold on to. To get to the other viewpoints, it gets much steeper and more difficult. In my opinion, the view from the first viewpoint is sufficient and I did not go any further, too. It was just incredibly hot up there - so you should not forget your sunscreen and protect your head. Also, do not forget enough drinking water!

Otherwise there is not much to do on Koh Adang. The island is a popular campsite surrounded by nature. If you are looking for some peace and tranquility and want to escape the many tourists on Koh Lipe, Koh Adang is right for you! The beaches on Koh Adang are often deserted and you will surely find a quiet place for you alone.

Personally, I liked the island, but I would not stay there overnight. Half a day trip is enough for me.
