Hey Steemians,

It's time again that I give a sign of life from me. Lately, I've had a lot to do with my job and I was usually too exhausted to write blog posts after a hard working day. 👷

Now, on this sunny spring weekend, I finally had time to go on tour and switch off. Among other things, I was in the Upper Danube Valley at a remarkable church ruins and made a 30 km long hike through the beautiful Danube valley. I also visited some Lost Places and discovered a huge and beautiful stone maze in an old gravel pit through Google Earth. 🌄 ⛪

Es wird mal wieder Zeit das ich ein Lebenszeichen von mir gebe. In letzter Zeit habe ich beruflich viel um die Ohren und nach Feierabend war ich meistens immer zu erschöpft um noch größere Blog-Beiträge zu schreiben. 👷

Jetzt, an diesem frühlingshaften Wochenende hatte ich endlich mal wieder Zeit um auf Tour zu gehen und abzuschalten. Unteranderem war ich im Oberen Donautal bei einer sehenswerten Kirchenruine und habe anschließend eine 30 km lange Wanderung durch das wunderschöne Donautal gemacht. Ebenfalls konnte ich ein paar Lost Places besucht und habe durch Google Earth ein riesiges und wunderschönes Steinlabyrinth in einer alten Kiesgrube entdeckt. 🌄 ⛪

Today I would like to tell you about the impressive church ruins Maria Hilf in the Upper Danube Valley. ⛪

A truly fabulous and mystical spot for taking pictures or filming surrounded by beautiful nature.

Heute möchte ich euch von der beeindruckenden Kirchenruine Maria Hilf im Oberen Donautal berichten. ⛪

Ein wirklich sagenhafter und mystischer Spot zum Fotografieren oder Filmen umgeben von wunderschöner Natur.

At that time, everything started on the Welschenberg, when Pastor Walter from Mühlheim in 1649, after the Thirty Years War, attached a picture of the Virgin Mary to an old oak tree on the Welschenberg. Shortly thereafter, the pilgrimage to this place began in 1652 around this oak a church was built. The first pilgrimage church was completed in 1661 and inaugurated. Then in 1756, the church, now only a ruin, with a 130-foot tower and splendid interior decoration, was built. In 1811, the pilgrimage was lifted and the building sold for demolition. 🏰

Angefangen hat damals alles auf dem Welschenberg, als Pfarrer Walter aus Mühlheim 1649, nach dem Dreißigjährigen Krieg, ein Bild der Jungfrau Maria an einer alten Eiche auf dem Welschenberg anbrachte. Kurz darauf begann die Wallfahrt zu diesem Ort sodass 1652 um diese Eiche eine Kirche erbaut wurde. Die erste Wallfahrtskirche wurde 1661 fertiggestellt und eingeweiht. 1756 entstand dann, die heute nur noch als Ruine erkennbare Kirche mit 130 Fuß hohen Turm und einer prächtigen Innenausstattung. 1811 wurde dann die Wallfahrt aufgehoben und das Gebäude zum Abbruch verkauft. 🏰

Later, in the 19th century, the demolition of the church and adjoining buildings took place.
Today, a small, open chapel has been preserved. Parts of the church was roofed and the church tower was also restored.
Occasionally, church services are still held outdoors in front of the small chapel today. ⛪

Später dann, im 19. Jahrhundert erfolgte der Abbruch der Kirche und anliegenden Gebäude.
Heute ist noch eine kleine, offene Kapelle erhalten. Ein Teil der Kirche wurde mit einem Dach versehen und der Kirchturm wurde ebenfalls restauriert.
Gelegentlich werden heute immer noch Gottesdienste im Freien, vor der kleinen Kapelle, gehalten. ⛪
