Today I would like to report you about a beautiful gorge in the Allgäu, Bavaria, which I used a few weeks ago as a starting point for a promising mountain tour. 🌄

It is about the beautiful Starzlachklamm, which lies at the foot of the so-called "Guardian of the Allgäu", the Grünten, a 1740m high mountain in the Allgäu. The name of the mountain comes from its striking location directly in front of the Alps and because it extends with its width of more than 5 kilometers across the whole Upper Allgäu. More information on the Grünten and the many beautiful hiking trails you can go to the summit, I will report you in my next contribution. Today it's about the starting point of the tour. 😉

Heute möchte ich euch von einer wunderschönen Klamm im Allgäu in Bayern berichten, die ich vor ein paar Wochen als Startpunkt für eine aussichtsreiche Bergtour nutzte. 🌄

Und zwar geht es um die wunderschöne Starzlachklamm, die am Fuße des sogenannten „Wächter des Allgäus“, dem Grünten, einem 1740m Hohen Berg im Allgäu, liegt. Den Name trägt der Berg wegen seiner markanten Lage direkt vor dem Alpenrand und weil er sich mit seiner Breite von mehr als 5 Kilometer quer durchs ganze Oberallgäu zieht. Mehr Informationen zum Grünten und den vielen wunderschönen Wanderungen die man zum Gipfel gehen kann werde ich euch jedoch im nächsten Beitrag berichten. Heute soll es um den Startpunkt der Tour gehen. 😉

The Starzlachklamm near Sonthofen-Winkel is a breathtaking natural spectacle for the whole family. The gorge was "washed out" by a mountain river, the Starzlach, which rises between the mountains Grünten and Wertacher Hörnle at an altitude of 1070 meters. The name Starzlach means translated, "the over rock leaping water". 🌊

Die Starzlachklamm in der Nähe von Sonthofen-Winkel ist ein atemberaubendes Naturschauspiel für die ganze Familie. Die Klamm wurde durch einen Gebirgsfluss „ausgewaschen“, der Starzlach, der seinen zwischen den Bergen Grünten und Wertacher Hörnle auf ca. 1070 Metern Höhe entspringt. Der Name Starzlach bedeutet übersetzt, „die über Felsen springende Aach“. 🌊

Whether as a small day trip with the family, as a starting point for a beautiful hike or mountain tour, as an exciting canyoning tour or for sportive climbing along the rocks above the gorge. The Starzlachklamm truly offers everyone a relaxing or adventurous experience and therefore also belongs to one of the most attractive gorges in Germany. 👪

Egal ob als kleiner Tagesausflug mit der Familie, als Startpunkt für eine wunderschöne Wanderung oder Bergtour, als erlebnisreiche Canyoning Tour oder zum sportlichen Klettern entlang der Felsen oberhalb der Schlucht. Die Starzlachklamm bietet wirklich für jeden ein erholsames oder abenteuerliches Erlebnis und gehört deswegen auch zu einer der attraktivsten Schluchten in ganz Deutschland. 👪

The gorge is officially closed every year from the beginning of November until the end of April. This means that no maintenance is carried out on the gorge during this time. However, you can still cross the gorge "at your own risk". ⚠

Die Klamm ist jedes Jahr von Anfang November bis einschließlich Ende April offiziell geschlossen. Das heißt es werden in dieser Zeit keine Wartungen an der Anlage durchgeführt. Man kann die Schlucht jedoch trotzdem „auf eigene Gefahr“ durchqueren. ⚠

On a canyoning tour, you can go the gorge along the watercourse and "slide down" the natural course of the river. You can book such a tour for example at Bergwasser, of which I would like to share a video with you as a little inspiration. 💦

Bei einer Canyoning Tour begeht man die Klamm entlang des Wasserlaufs und kann den natürlichen Flussverlauf „herunterrutschen“. Buchen kann man so eine Tour zum Beispiel bei Bergwasser, von denen ich gerne als kleine Inspiration ein Video mit euch teilen möchte. 💦

Above the Starzlachklamm there is also a DAV climbing wall. The cliffs with many overhangs are located in the forest next to a hiking trail and are suitable for experienced, athletic climbers. Here you can climb routes with difficulty from -6 to 11 at a height of 17 - 30 meters. Nearby there is also another, simpler climbing rock. The gray stone, where you can climb at a difficulty of 3 to 8+ and a height of 40 meters. 👍

Oberhalb der Starzlachklamm gibt es auch noch eine DAV Kletterwand. Die Felswände mit vielen Überhängen befinden sich im Wald neben einem Wanderweg und sind für geübte, athletische Kletterer geeignet. Hier können Routen mit einer Schwierigkeit von -6 bis hin zu 11 bei einer Höhe von 17 – 30 Metern geklettert werden. In der Nähe befindet sich auch noch ein weiterer, einfacherer Kletterfelsen. Der Graue Stein, bei dem man bei einer Schwierigkeit von 3 bis 8+ und einer Höhe von 40 Metern klettern kann. 👍

As mentioned above, I have used the Starzlachklamm as a starting point for a beautiful and promising mountain hike. From the parking lot at Sonfhofen-Winkel, I first went through the gorge up to Burgberger Hörnle (1497m) and from here on to the summit of Grünten (1740m). On the descent, I went back through the gorge, where I ended the eventful day at the riverbed. However, more of the tour I will report in the next post. 🌄

Wie oben bereits erwähnt habe ich die Starzlachklamm als Ausganspunkt für eine wunderschöne und aussichtsreiche Bergtour genutzt. Vom Parkplatz bei Sonfhofen-Winkel ging es zuerst durch die Schlucht hinauf zum Burgberger Hörnle (1497m) und von hier aus weiter zum Gipfel des Grünten (1740m). Beim Abstieg ging es dann wieder durch die Klamm, bei der ich den erlebnisreichen Tag am Flussbett ausklingen ließ. Mehr von der Tour werde ich jedoch im kommenden Beitrag berichten. 🌄
