After a brief raid to the top of a sleeping volcano, we moved south of the island. We had Napoleonic plans. Our goal was the magnificent trinity of southern Sicily. We wanted to see three world famous cities from the UNESCO World Heritage List: Noto, Ragusa and Modica. The first point of visit, we outlined Noto. On the inspection of the first point, we determined two hours. Then, according to the plan, we planned to move to Ragusa, where the apartments were booked.

The guidebooks wrote that Noto is the capital of Sicilian Baroque. It was also said that at the end of the day the palaces and cathedrals facades are painted in fantastic colors of the sunset. The clear sky of those day was promised a gorgeous sunset. We decided to skip lunch and limit ourselves to dinner.

First we drove along the freeway. Then we saw a turn signal on Noto. The road narrowed and began to loop between the hills.

As often happens during a time shortage, the navigator decided to play a trick on us. The smartphone has lost the GPS signal. Confusion occurred, as a result of which we lost about an hour.

The sun was setting. We raced between the hills to our destination. Time was melting inexorably.

This time I parked my car in the first paid parking lot. But this turned out to be not so simple, I had to make several circles around the center.

When we entered crosso Vittorio Emanuele, the city glowed in the sunset. The spectacle was truly unforgettable. Deserted streets, pink-painted baroque facades. Amazing experience! It is at such moments that you understand and feel the whole frailty of being. How strang is the human perception of reality. If a person is waiting for something, it seems to him that time stretches like rubber, slowly, slowly. If a person immensely enjoys something, time accelerates like a rocket.

We really wanted to sit at a cafe table, take a glass of red wine. A great way to spend an evening. But dusk was approaching. Riding in the dark on serpentines is not the safest activity. This requires special attention and concentration.

I will not describe all the vicissitudes of how we got in the dark. I can only say that the movement on serpentines in the vicinity of Ragusa requires a certain skill.

Finally, we breathed out a sigh of relief. Before us was opened a spectacular panorama of a medieval city where dinners and overnight were waiting for us.
