It was taken on the balcony of the Midyat Guest Mansion

Hello dear Steemian friends, as i promised my former travel writing i am writing part two and this my previous writing was about the Ancient City of Mardin. Now we are going to go to the Midyat, the historical city of Anatolian civilizations, has been a frequent destination for traders from Iran, Azerbaijan, the Caucasus and Syria throughout history.Actually Midyat was called city of crafts and beliefs.

Here is the Square of Midyat and as you can see there is a structure of Atatürk

When we firstly arrived from Mardin to Midyat ,we actually had no idea what we would do and had no program or something like that, then we saw a Kurdish child and asked him to be our guide for our short trip for the Midyat...We dealt him for a lunch :)

Ahmet,as our guide for the Ancient City of Midyat

There is no problem with security. So you can discover this region without any question mark in your head.In Midyat and its surroundings ,there are Muslims, Christians and a folk called Ezidi(a brand of Kurdish folk), live altogether without any problem for many years.

A few pictures from the peaceful streets of Midyat

Midyat is an open-air museum with houses made of local stone. Since most of the houses are still alive, so if you want to see interiors of houses you need to ask for permissions of landlords...But there is a great mansion which is hired for the soap operas or movies in Turkiye and was restored by the local goverment to visit for tourists and it is really cheap. As i remembered it was 5 TL(five Turkish Liras)

How to go?

The most practical way to go to Midyat is to fly to Mardin. Regular airline services are arranged from Istanbul to Mardin. The 64 - kilometer Mardin - Midyat road takes about one hour by road. Bus lines are working between these two points.

And don't worry about the accommodation.Because there are a lot of boutique hotel which were recreated from the ancient mansions...

If you came to Midyat you also need to see Mor Gabriel Manastırı ( Mor Gabriel Monastry). Founded in 397, the temple serves as one of the world's oldest active monasteries.
