The HusBus Adventures Part 6

February 2018 · 6 min read

Tarragona.

I tried using portable steem for this post, but no luck and now im in some kind of raw html cross editor thing.. still learning!

We woke up whenever we felt like it, Sounds like heaven- It is!

There was enough room on the floor in the van and thats where Ryan and the Mex slept in sleeping bags on mattresses we had found and I had literally everything I owned in the van, including the new memory foam matress which was a luxury. I miss that van, it was like having a mobile bedroom in a house share with the world. The standard day would start with a cup of terrible instant coffee and some bread from the bakery bins that we would find on the nightly exploration missions.

Usually I like to wake up with a joint also but at this time, there was not a chance to.

I had (writing this just reminded me) a chemical toilet in the corner that I would place outside every time we parked up. Something of a luxury to have a place to poo! It lasted just 2 months more and then it was just terrible even though I did empty it etc.

Guys, if you ever want to have some kind of portable toilet, go for it, but dont get a chemical toilet. In the years im writing about here, I had no idea about what I was doing, and was just doing what people had told me and since years already its clear that you can make a compost toilet using just biodegradable things.

We set up as we would stay some days and made more space in the van by taking some things out and storing them outside.

We had no ciggerettes- just shitty coffee, and by chance a guy walked past apparently just finishing work at the docks we were parked near, and he gave us 2 packets of ciggerettes saying in spanish that he gets them cheap. I personally spoke no spanish at that time and Ryan somehow didnt either, lucky the Mex was obviously fluent and could translate. Gift from life!

Since arriving and stopping at Tarragona, the Mex had woken up and started to be bitchy with some negative vibes which was the oppersite of the vibes of us 2.

Ryan and I decided to go to the city center to check it out. In good spirit this is how I dressed, and you can see where we were parked below

Shop Rave

Tarragona is also a nice city with many shops. One shop we walked past was blairing out loud dance music that had some bass, and to our surprise it was a female clothes shop. I said to ryan, " Party Time! " and he got it straight away that we were to go in that shop for a spontanious and very short party.

In we went as if we were entering the best nightclub in the universe , busting out erractic moves on the opening of the shop floor- that even looked like a dancefloor.

We were on it. The people in the shop had no clue what to do, and were completely shocked. I fucking enjoyed it! The song ended and we waved and left laughing hard.

Shop rave.. Try it some time its fun!

I dont remember much else about that day but anyway heres some pics of that day in the city.

I had the idea that we could sell pancakes on the street and on our way back to the van we found a white door from inside a house and took it back. We could use this to make a table and so we made a foldable table that fitted together in 3 parts, 2 sides and a top. My gas cooker from the van fitted on it and after a scrub looked quite hygienic and the gas bottle fitted under it perfectly. We got eggs and milk from somewhere and made the pancake mix up and kept it in plastic bottles to be poured into a pan.

We even had found previously clean black trousers and white shirts in the trash and used them as our uniforms. I had aprons still from UK and rubber gloves so we had a chance to look kind of proffesional and have hopes of selling some pancakes, the only photos remaining of this are here *below* This was like "behind the scenes" from our very clean and hygenical setup haha..

We took all the stuff there on some kind of trolley that I had in the back of the van, and we actually sold some pancakes! On the street we looked great, we even took palm leaves and decorated the stand and people were buying them at 1 euro each. We did this also a couple of other times in different citys but after an hour we would get the polica arrive and have to go, plus wouldnt sell any pancakes. I guess by then we were far from looking fresh from not showering and living on the road!

The great thing was that we had atleast paid for the eggs and milk, and now we had a shit load of pancake mix that we could eat! great thing about selling food things is that you know you wont go hungry if you dont sell what you wanted to!

The evening was short and full bellys from pancakes and tomorrow would be quite a random day I will call

"Black Jesus and The Animal Graveyard"
