First Bad Airbnb Experience

First Bad Airbnb Experience

I live in South Korea, right? But, as opposed to what most people would think, I live outside of Seoul, way outside. I live about four and half hours away from Seoul. So, when I want to meet friends up North, Airbnb is everything to me. I need to use it to have comfortable nights or just a cheap group house to stay when I am visiting. Most times, it is terrific, and I meet some awesome people we might drink together, and they recommend me some good restaurants.

Other times though, it can be weird. I got a bnb one time, thinking that it was just a simple place, it ended up being a dirty hotel (dirtier than usual for love motels), that was not the best experience. However, this time, it was terrible. So, this is my shit posting review of the place. I'm not going to add the host's name or address of the area, I just want to vent it here. I'm sure other people have good experiences with her, for us that was not the case.

The host made a mistake when she listed the bnb, stating that it was meant for two people, but it was only for one. I paid the extra charge for my guest, and the host didn't notice that I had an additional person until we were a half hour away from the place. We traveled four and a half hours to come here, so it was already stressful when she accused me of not paying the extra charge. This wasn't settled until she called Airbnb about it.

Do not use the bottled water that is not for drinking. We thought that was an amenity provided, but it wasn't. So, bring your own drinking water. Also, there is not a hairbrush, so you need to bring your own. The host was also late arriving to tell us her additional rules for the place. When we asked to use other things, like a mirror for doing makeup, that was perceived as rude on us for not asking in the politest form.

When we were asked how we know each other, we said that we met on Tinder, and so she told us right away that this is not a love motel and if we want a refund we can find somewhere else to stay. It was not our intention to use it as such, and we've never experienced that kind of condescending manner from a host for meeting through Tinder. We also booked this place on a Tuesday and just rode a bus for over four hours to come here. We don't want to try and find another place on short notice when we plan to spend a night in Seoul seeing my friends for my birthday.

I also received a phone call from Airbnb support advising me to follow the host's rules which as stated were (no smoking, no pets, no children, not suitable for parties, and flexible check-ins). We had not infringed on any of the rules except for asking for a mirror, hairbrush, and drinking the bottled water. And I received a text from the host stating that I had paid for my guest and that it was her fault for not seeing that. Also, that it is not a love motel (duh) and that my friend is rude for asking for the mirror and if we wanna go somewhere else we can, because she is pregnant and can't deal with the stress, so we should be quiet when we come back. Which when we came back, we just talked in our room and had a glass of whiskey that was left over from the night before and went to bed. We were probably way too loud though because the host did not make us breakfast in the morning as she told us she would and what was stated in the ad.

I don't recommend this place because the amenities listed and the number of guest possible was not accurate. Along with the house rules. If the host does not want people returning to the home after drinking, then that should be added to the house rules along with the quiet hours along with sticky notes informing of other rules like other Airbnb host do in their places.

It was also insulting to assume the nature of our relationship based on how we met, and judge us for it. Then calling Airbnb for her mistake in the number of guests allowed, but first telling me that I should pay more. Then, also breakfast was the selling point between this and another place so that not being provided was rude. This was my first negative experience of using Airbnb in Korea, and I feel like I am ranting but compared to other places, this was weird and uncomfortable. So, unless you are quiet as a mouse and don't have plans after 10 pm, this may not be the place for you.

Well, that's it. The fact that the host spoke to my friend in Korean like that pissed me off cause I could understand roughly what she was saying. I honestly think if we said we met at a language exchange or studied together, she would have treated us a lot differently and none of this would have been an issue. But, we met online, so we are terrible people and hook up everywhere like a couple of exhibitionists.

Also, low-blow to the host, but I left a personal message in the review. I stated to her that I'm adopted, and my birth mom smoked cigarettes and drank while she was pregnant, and I turned out fine. So, I told her to take it easy; your kid will be just fine. Dick move? Yes, but assuming that we are heathens and killing her child, is also a dick move, so there's that.

Let me know below if you have had any experiences like this, I don't wanna feel like I am the only one that is salty about this lol

Anyways... this is the first time I have used Airbnb since starting Steemit, so next time I will have a more positive review of a place for you all and include names and such so you all can find it. Also, I am calming down on Steemit and changing to posting just three times a week (Mon, Tues, Fri) since I want to spend more time studying Korean again.
