Khoiyachora Waterfalls

June 2020 · 4 min read · Chattogram

Chottogram division is the home of Waterfalls of Bangladesh. There are thousands of Waterfalls in Bangladesh and Khoiyachora is one of the largest one and which is more than Seven Steps as per my observation.

It was late night we started our tour from Dhaka to Chottogram, as we have to get of on the way- we knew that we would be at our destination within three hours! So, we fixed our Uncle’s place where we wanted to stay till morning.

We have reached our first destination where we would find the guide and our lunch as well. It was 10 O’clock in the morning we have started our Trekking to the hill and reached to the waterfall within half an hour. I have seen many waterfalls but this huge waterfall is too close to the highway, most of the waterfall I had to trek down or up to the hill for hours to find the beautiful creation of God.

After the first step we had to climb a hill and then climb down when we found the Jhiripath (waterway of the waterfall, like a stone made cannel with low downward water stream) which ended beneath the Waterfalls. This Jhiripath lasts only 35 to 40 munities from where we have started our trekking.

We found the waterway tough here and you need to be careful to avoid unexpected fall down which could ended into small to serious injury. One of our members fall down and brock his glass and cell phone as he was not using the bamboo stick to hold the ground.

After reaching the bottom of the huge waterfall we never knew there are more and more beautiful steps we would discover on the way up to the hill. Due to sudden tour we had no research about the waterfall as usual, all the travel we have arranged into the waterfalls was sudden so far!

I have found this waterfall as package! With easy access you won't find anything beautiful like this and you would remember for lifetime. Each steps after coming down to the Jhiripath was awesome and memorable.

It was difficult to go up to the hill to watch each steps, thanks God we did not go during full rainy season! The rain was once or twice for the season when we were at the waterfall so we could not find the heavy waterfall and it was lucky for us as we could watch each steps and jumped from 5th to 4th steps water (caution: not recommended, the water might not deep enough where you are jumping). Each steps of the waterfall got different view and amazing in a word!

The most amazing thing happen when we have reached on the top, actually we went to find the Origin of the water of the Waterfall and discovered the beautiful natural water pool on the top of the waterfall. Actually, this is not the top as there is another Waterfall pouring water to the pool in the straight far-right corner and the pool overflowing and making more than seven steps towards the ground.

I wanted to go up to the hill but didn’t find any way up as the hill goes straight up from the pool. In the pool there is two big size stone where you could enjoy the sun after bath and you never gonna know you are on the top of a hill! We have seen few birds was enjoying the sun and might found some fish in the pool.

I would not suggest to go up to the natural pool during rainy season as the journey could be life risking, whoever not able to go to the top please don’t be depressed as the last step of the waterfall which touched the ground is the tallest one and rest of the steps is smaller.

Hope you loved to walk with me, thanks for your time!
