The Amazing Scotland: Part Four “The bon voyage to the Loch Lomond”

May 2020 · 4 min read · Scotland

It was a very beautiful morning with lots of sunlight and we were so happy to check out the hotel around 10am. Here something happen what I would remember years, we checked out from the hotel with our backpack and wanted to go to that Indian restaurant to avoid the Scottish breakfast!

While we already outside a lady requested us to have the complimentary breakfast and we couldn’t decide whether we should return to the hotel or not as we were already in the parking area! My friend told me let’s go and we too the right decision.

The fresh beans, toast and eggs will be remembered for long, wherever I go I tell my friends about that specific breakfast and the hospitality. The lady who called us to have the breakfast with a cordial request deserve respect and love along regards.

After having our full breakfast we even more energized and step out with a very good start. As we had no destination, we thought to go to the left side out of the hotel where we saw the line of hills on the previous day. With a very short walk we went found few beautiful tress with full of flowers and surprised to see the amount of flower blooming! Soon the weather was getting windy and we had to return in the information center to find out what to do for the rest of the day. We got our suggestion and we have decided to experience the cruise we saw in the river last evening.

This one hour circular tour of Loch Lomond’s South basin will be remembered for long due to the views of both side of the lake and the river where we were started. Sweeney’s Cruise operates round the year and starts from 11.30 in the morning, it took £12.50 per ticket for the one hour tour.

Around 11.30 am we started our tour from Balloch and amazed to watch the line of different size boats both side of the river, there are hundreds of them, amazing!

Yachts, speed boat, small engine boat, boat just made us watch with open mouth! Soon the boat getting disappear and we were observing the beautiful natural views of both side of the river.

Everyone was inside and watching the views from there and I was too excited to be out although the wind was heavy by then and the clouds already forecasting the upcoming rain! Soon, it was raining and we only could watch the water, rain and clouds from the boat! I wish I was a sunny hour as the beautiful landscape, highland and the line of high hills were missed!

Soon the rain stopped and I went out! No one was coming out due to strong wind. We have seen the magnificent Ben Lomond, also passes several Stately homes and of course castles along the shoreline.

We found the largest Island among 33 island of Loch Lomond called Inchmurrin Island which is the home of the ancient Lennox Castle. After me, few feople started outside to watch the natural beauty and by then half an hour already gone and it was time to return!

We could observe the landscape now but not clear enough and it was breathtaking!

While on board the recorded commentary by Neil Oliver which was very good who was explaining the history of castle/houses and hotels we could see from the boat, we got lots of information. There is a bar/café on board and got toilets it was well worth a tour in the lake.

Just one hour journey provides us much information and views of the lake and the surroundings, we were happy but still we had half of the day in our hand so we wanted to explore more.

The final part is ahead where our tour ends! Now it was time to explore the deep forest, hills and the lakeside of Loch Lomond. I would write the next and final and I would say most exting one at my next post of the series. The Amazing Scotland, really amazing! Thanks for being with me…
