Another Fantastic Australian Beach. Nobbys, NSW.

One of the best parts about Australia is all the beaches. Nobbys Beach is one of them with plenty of surf and sand. A two and a half hour drive north of Sydney in the Newcastle Region. We were there on a weekend away late last year.

I used to do a bit of surf life saving in my younger days. I remember doing my bronze medallion training at an open beach in big surf. A timed swim was part of the certification everyone in my group failed the time cut off but the instructor ended up passing us all for just completing the swim in big surf with a strong sweep. Seeing any big white wash surf always brings back good memories.

The big rescue boards were a lot of fun to ride as well, I was not that skilful on them but it was easy to catch a wave and if things got out of control you could bail out from the kneeling down position back to lying down and just hang onto the board straps.

There is always lots of action at Nobbys Beach with the Hunter river in the back ground and all the big cargo ships heading in and out.
