About 35 kilometres south east of Brisbane City centre is Fodder Forrest. I had not heard of this place before I started doing parkrun but it seems the parkrun is named after this green space which is used to grow fodder for the local koala community. Fodder in this case being eucalyptus gum tree leaves.

The Eucalyptus Leaf is the most common thing eat by the Australian koala. As you can see in the above photo behind the parkrun sign, the trees in this area kept low to the ground so that they can be easily cut and sent to the Daisy Hill Koala Centre and the Moggill Wildlife Hospital. Where they feed, look after and rehabilitated Koalas back into the wild.

It is pretty hard to see a Koala in the wild as the city takes over more and more of there habitat. Though we have been very lucky over years and have seen a few.

It is a pretty good place for a parkrun as the boardwalks are nice and wide and there is plenty of shade. I have done this Saturday morning parkrun 10 times but today we were just here for a Sunday afternoon recovery run and walk.
