Indigiscapes, Queensland, Australia

What a Cool name! I Never heard it before and it does not seem show up in any dictionary either. I guess they blended the words Indigenous and landscape together to come up with Indigiscapes. Which is an Environmental Educational Centre 20 kilometers east of Brisbane.

It is really well sign posted and looks pretty new.

It is not that big but there is plenty to do and explore. A gift shop and café. A couple of walking tracks, a small Botanical garden and a nursey where you can buy native plants in tubes.

A real recycling station instead of sending all that old and unused stuff to land fill.

So after the information centre we strolled around the wild flower walk.

No wild flowers were seen but the bush made for the pleasant walk.

I really liked the wooden totem pole carvings of local wild life.

The black Cockatoo is one of our favorites as they are rare and hard to find but when you do they are amazingly big and strong. Last year we saw a number of them eating seeds in a nature reserve. People say they pick and eat an area clean then do not return until there is a lot of regrowth which can be years.

The wild flower walk went past the duck and turtle pond at which we were able to see both as well as a few other birds.

A turtle sunning itself on a log, I had to zoom in from a distance.

A 400 year old Tallowwood tree and a viewing area. They had done a lot of work protecting the tree but in view was much better from the other side which I have added a couple of photos below.

More cool totem poles.

And the better photo of the 400 year old tree which does it lots more justice. Twice as big as all the other trees around it.

A nice viewing platform and boardwalk on the other side of the duck and turtle pond.
