Feels like such a long time ago and it would have been a good idea to get some lessons.

Australia does not have the best snow or skiing in the world but during Winter there a number of mountains set up for some winter fun. One of them is Mt Buller in Victoria. It's only a couple of hours drive from Melbourne.

The Alberg Hotel. Ski in and ski out. We had booked a package deal staying on the mountain for the weekend.

The Buller Mountain current PDF map of the northside of the mountain. I remember parking my car in the car park and catching a bus up to the hotel. I am sure there were not that many chair lifts back then but these places are always adding new equipment.

The Bourke Street run name after the main street of Melbourne’s CBD before the lifts opened.

The Burnt Hut Spur easy green run. Some good weather for our first day of skiing.

My ski crew, most of us knew each over from working at the local Safeway Grocery Supermarket and yes it may have been a bit of a drinking trip too. Lucky they used to build wardrobes pretty sturdy back then.

South side of the mountain on Little Buller Spur. I have my John Perry Lifts work jacket on so I would have been working two jobs at the time. A full time day shift electrical apprenticeship as well as casual night shift stacking the grocery shelves at night after the grocery supermarket had closed.

Yes lessons would have been a really good idea. I have now done quite a few more ski trips since then and have improved. Its quite funny looking at the old photos and how uncoordinated I was on the first day.

Night skiing. It was pretty new and novel back then. They only had one short run that had lights and had a chair lift working.

Overall photo quality is a bit low but it was 1984. It was really fun to re-live these memories.
