Cutigliano and Orsigna.

December 2020 · 2 min read · Tuscany

Cutigliano is a medieval village situated on the San marcello Area, it's situated in the top of a mountain near the lima River, during summer the weather it's fine and refreshing but in winter it's extremely cold and snow often.

They don't have many citizens during winter time but they always have tourists, that's why there are many hotels in the village.

A little typical shop, they sell local products, milk yogurt, bread, honey..

Streets in Cutigliano.
Streets in Cutigliano.

My boyfriend in Cutigliano. He enjoy the walk in the medieval wet streets.

We went to Cutigliano with my stepdaughter and some friends, here you can go for a good walk, you must not wear heels, some streets are high, you also can eat in one of the many local restaurants with traditional cuisine or have a glass of wine in the wine shop.

The church.
The church.

After our walk in Cutigliano (unfortunately the church were close so we can not visit it inside) we went to another little village, Orsigna, this name is derivate from bear in italian orso in plural orsi, because it's a bear place, like only bears can live there.

Orsigna it's really far from society, more Tha Cutigliano, at least they have shops, school, restaurants etc...

In orsigna there are only few houses, a single restaurant open only in summer and a church. Orsigna is famous because it's the place where lived the famous journalist and writer Tiziano Terzani, he loved and died in this place, he lived a very simple and retired life without electricity, hot water and in meditation.

This is the right place for this kind of life in Orsigna there is not cellphone signal or internet and live there only 50 people.

If you go to the Tuscanian mountains and you want peace or relax you must visit these little villages.
