Nice trip in Vicopisano

Nice trip in Vicopisano

September 2023 · 3 min read · Italy

I found photos of my little trip made in spring, which I had forgotten, what a careless and I decided to share this magical place with you, we went to the town of Vicopisano for medical reasons, my husband had a visit in a neighboring town it is about a couple of hours away from where we live and so we decided to visit the village after the medical visit!

It's a medieval village in the province of Pisa, situated close to the Arno river and the Pisano mountain, it's surrounded by hills, fields and trees a really green and nice place.

As soon as we arrived in Vico we immediately found a place in the main square, a beautiful spacious square with a nice bar where we later had an aperitif, the main streets branch off from the square leading to the fortress and we immediately took the slightly uphill road to see the beautiful medieval center of the village. Small streets and stone houses are typical of this place. As well as your view on the green hills.

Vico was in a strategic position for this reason they built the castle, near rivers lakes and between sea and mountains it was a much coveted fortress. It takes about ten minutes on foot to get there, unfortunately it is only open on weekends and we were unable to visit it internally. A pity I love castles and fortifications. Vico did not have an easy life during the Middle Ages wars, plagues, invasions, famines made life difficult for the village, it began to live again after passing into the hands of Florence. Vico had a bad story for lung, also during the second world war have been damaged and collect a lot of deaths, luckily nowadays it's a quite place that live happily with a lot of services and a wealthy economy mostly based on oil and wine .

After our walk we were tired and we join the main bard in the main square here we ordered two nice's aperitif, the bar it's really cool looking, the walls are full of art and there are curious colours on the wall and on the floor, looks more like a contemporary art museum than a a bar,by the way we ordered two nice drinks I ordered an analcholic cocktail with orange juice and soda it was super my husband ordered a prosecco he assure it was good ! In the end we really enjoyed our little trip in Vicopisano it was such a charming place.
